Dear readers,

Last week we applied for a Schengen visa in Bangkok for my partner and her child (both Thai nationals). Now I have a question regarding passing the border control in Thailand, specifically for her minor son.

Her son is 6 years old and has the same surname as my partner. Father has never been in the picture (so there is no contact with him), on both the birth certificate and an extract from the civil registry the paternity is therefore not registered. We also have a declaration of unmarried status from my partner, which states that she has never been married.

Would the above documents be sufficient to prove at the border control in Thailand that my partner has sole custody (incidentally, custody details are not stated on the extract from the civil registry), or do we need to arrange something else for this?

Yours faithfully,

Michal Frank

    Dear Frank,
It doesn't seem that difficult to me, what you can easily do is visit the immigration office and ask, seems easy to me with the right information from the right source.
