Is it possible to pay taxes online in Thailand?

Dear readers,

I follow the news about Thai taxes with great interest. I have been living in Pichit for 6 years and plan to file my tax return online at the end of the month. So far I have come across many experiences of people who report in person at an RD office, but only a few people have shared their experiences with filing a PIT91 online.

Who is so kind to share his experiences? How do you log in? Is your TIN enough, or do you also need a One Time Password? Is the online form similar to the PIT91? Is the online form in English or Thai? Is Chrome easy to fill in or is it better to use another browser? If you have to pay tax eventually, can this also be done online, for example via the Thai bank app? Are there things I forget?

Would like many reactions from many readers? We are all helped by it.

With thanks and best regards,

John

I would like to add a question: is there space online to add free text?

If you want to use the reduction option for AOW or WIA, you will need that space to explain the reduction; see the 'Additional appendix' in https://www.thailandblog.nl/dossier/belastingen-advies-reductie-23-lid-6-nr-2/

I wonder if a foreigner staying in Thailand on Retirement or Spouse visa extension can file tax returns online.
I couldn't do it last year anyway.

I wonder about that too. It would be easy. But can you do calculations online. I have brought over 1 million baht to Thailand, of which 300K savings from 2023. If I enter 700K baht as assessable income and they see 1 million in transactions, I should be able to explain the difference. Also, as Erik Kuipers says, the calculation of the AOW reduction. Not so long ago there was a certain Jaap who was able to give a manual on how to register. Are there others who have already made a declaration online? I am curious about it.

I don't have any experience with filing this year yet, but if you're stuck, you'll find plenty of help at aseannow.com.

Aseannow.com describes how to register to file online.

You must first visit a tax office to obtain a TIN.
Then register on this website: https://efiling.rd.go.th/rd-efiling-web/register.
Use chrome as browser, so you get automatic translation from Thai to English or Dutch.

    See also the link: https://aseannow.com/topic/1347864-revenue-department-boss-calls-on-tax-residents-in-thailand-to-file-2024-returns-by-march-31/page/7/#findComment-19493583.

Both when filing on paper or online, you have no comment field. Only for certain deductions are attachments requested.

So to give an explanation for AOW reduction, you have to use the following trick. Put 1 baht on interest income and the system asks for an attachment. This attachment is then the attachment with the explanation that you want to send. I learned this trick from one of the tax advisors.

After filing online, the system may also ask you to send specific follow-up attachments, such as a withholding tax certificate from the bank, if you want to reclaim the tax paid on interest.
