I have Crohn's disease and for my medication (Stelara 90mg) I have to go back to Belgium every year. The reason for this is that I have to pay little through the health insurance company. I entered the country in November on a Visa Exemption and got a stamp in my passport at immigration, in December I went home again, but this time I went through the new passport scanner, so no exit stamp! With a red code and a pollution index well above the norm, outdoor activities are discouraged. Where this pollution comes from remains a mystery, but the impact on health is clear.

That you can get "Western service" in a hospital in Bangkok I am willing to believe. When I lived in Kingston, New Jersey, three miles from Princeton, we would go to the city once a week for Thai food, and that restaurant was always full of young Thais. They were at university there, and not on scholarships: this was where the "crème de la crème" of Thai wealthy families came to study to succeed their fathers - ministers, Chinese businessmen, and doctors.
