It is now about a month ago that the editors of Thailandblog decided that chatting is allowed, under certain conditions. It is therefore time for a small evaluation. Recently, Lung Addie met a Thai man named Oei who was on "holiday" in Thailand. You would say nothing special, but for this person it was exactly 5 years ago that he had been to Thailand. He studied, lived and worked in Australia for 10 years.

A gray sky, drizzly weather, the rain regularly falls from the sky in buckets. And this for the second day in a row. There is no one to be seen on the street and in the fields, it seems as if you are the only one awake. The Inquisitor gets a little gloomy about it, although there is no real reason for it. In those moments, negative thoughts wander through his head, the blame for that drizzly weather.

Thailand has also been hit by the recent worldwide cyber attacks with hostage software on Windows computers. The Thailand Computer Emergency Response Team has announced that 200 government and corporate computers have been infected with the WannaCry ransomware.

I am preparing the papers for a short stay Schengen Visa for my girlfriend in Thailand. Download the latest version (2017) of the “Schengen Visa Application” form as a PDF. This version contains a number of text blocks (for example questions 17 and 20), if you fill them in digitally, they will only display the first line when printed. It is impossible to cram the necessary information into one line.

It is a pernicious tradition, but it is still common in Thailand: sex as a gift for the boss, often with underage girls. This practice is known as 'liang doo poo sua' where employees please their boss with entertainment by a prostitute. The Thai government wants to put an end to this.

Am a man of 70 and for some time now the puddle goes in two directions. And so far apart that only one jet goes into the toilet, the other jet finds the floor. Now I solve that with a urinal, then I don't spill anything, and I empty the urinal and rinse it clean with the 'butt syringe'. Is there a real medical problem behind this or is it an old man's ailment?

The cold contracted in the Netherlands is slowly receding. The sixteen days in the Netherlands have been hard, partly due to the ice-cold weather. Two degrees in the morning, rising to about thirteen degrees in the afternoon is not an option for Thai-born Lizzy and father Hans, who have lived there for almost twelve years.

The title of this article does not come from me, let that be said, but could be the conclusion of the fact that the Netherlands scores worse than Thailand on a very dubious ranking of children's rights. The list is compiled annually by an organization called Kidsrights. The Netherlands ended up in 15th place this year, while Thailand ended up in 8th place. You, like me, are surprised by that, aren't you?

I have been coming to Thailand since the 90s and from next year, when I take pre-retirement, I want to settle there permanently between Cha Am and Hua Hin. Because I can't or don't want to sit still I'm thinking about volunteering for a nice NGO or charitable institution. I would like to do something in PR/Marketing/Social Media Campaign or something like that.

The entire discussion surrounding the new income statement is still unclear. What if one receives the gross occupational pension in Thailand? And people are exempt from paying tax in the Netherlands? Is that sufficient to obtain a statement from the embassy?

Each society has different classes with associated advantages and disadvantages. But in Thailand that separation is very strong. That is not good for a harmonious society. Therefore, join the discussion about the proposition: 'Groups and classes in Thailand live too much at cross purposes!'
