Bangkok holds its breath. In many districts there is more than a meter of water. One airport has since been closed. And the worst is probably yet to come. Thailand is experiencing the worst flooding in fifty years.

The water has cost the lives of almost four hundred people and it is feared that the dikes around the center will collapse at the spring tide that is expected this weekend.

EenVandaag speaks to residents of the Thai capital and Dutch engineer Adri Verweij, who helps fight against the water.

  1. @ nice that the Dutch help, but whether the Thai will also listen?

  2. freek says up

the thai is proud, she is taught that at school, with the help of the national anthem. It is sung in clear language, that they can assume the superhuman feeling. They settle down with the thought that they can handle anything. I wish Mr Verweij therefore a lot of strength.
