Superstitions can bring in a lot of money, as evidenced by an auction of 42 telephone numbers containing the lucky number 9.
The Thai telecom authority NBTC held an auction of telephone numbers that already yielded 72,8 million baht on the first day of the two-day auction. The number 091-999-9999 raised 8 million baht, 63 people bid on it. Another topper was the number 088-999-9999 with 6,6 million baht, followed by 090-999.9999 with 6 million baht.
The auction lasted 5 hours and 33 minutes and was attended by 69 bidders.

A good thing anyway. The same goes for the numbers on motor vehicle registration plates. Compensates a little for the fact that the majority of the Thai population does not pay income tax. That's also lucky, but people don't realize that.
Those who have it wide let it hang wide. For me as a down-to-earth Dutchman, these kinds of amounts are absurd. Time will tell if it brings them luck.
