Thai traffic: watch out if it rains (video)

After a long period of drought in Thailand, roads can become very slippery when it starts to rain. It is then important that you adjust your speed, especially in the corners.

If there is a lot of water on the road surface, you have to watch out for Aquaplaning, a phenomenon in which a thin film of water forms between the tire of a moving vehicle and the road surface, making this vehicle (temporarily) uncontrollable. The risk of aquaplaning is increased by rutting, worn tyres, a light vehicle with (relatively) wide tyres, speed and especially combinations of these factors.

In this video you can see a truck flying out of a curve on a wet road surface. The video was shot at a military checkpoint in southern Thailand's Patani province.

  1. Franky R . says up

The white pickup was driving way too fast for the conditions. And then you don't keep it in a rain-soaked corner.
What a blow that was for the motorcyclist!

Is it known how it turned out for that unfortunate man or woman?
