An accident is in a small corner (video)

An accident is in a small corner and that is appropriate here. Children in traffic are unpredictable, add to that the average Thai who opens his car door without looking and you have the scenario for a freak accident.

The video shows a 12-year-old boy in the Bang Kho Laem district of Bangkok on January 15. He ends up under a truck with his right leg due to a careless driver who opens his car door as he walks by. Although the images look very serious, fortunately it is not too bad. The boy only has a wound and some bruises from the incident.

My experience is that Thais often do not watch out when opening the car door, so always pay attention in such situations.

I drive a shopper, which is not as manoeuvrable as a scooter. If I see a car driving along the side in front of me, I am always very attentive and stay far enough away from it. For the Thai it makes sense that you know that if he stops he wants to get out, so if you hit his swinging door it's definitely your own fault because you didn't think.

Yes lung Addie, it's not thinking… Ever heard of art. 28, opening doors? Seems logical to me!!!

I do not agree with you, the occupant of the car is guilty in my eyes.
The victim was also just a child, you don't say you should stay inside.

    Totally share your experiences.

It keeps looking double in traffic with everything.
Pay attention is a word they don't really know.
    They just do.

If the editors allow me, I will continue.
You drive your motorcycle into and a two-lane road in Pattaya. All cars are parked on the left side of the road. Are you going to wait for every oncoming traffic with your motorcycle and then pass on the right lane. Of course not. You just drive past it. Bit on the outside of course.
There's a weirdo who throws open his door without looking. Just grab the outside of the door and you're lying on your plate. You are guilty. You should have paid more attention.
    Go do your homework.
    Cor van Kampen,

Too bad there is no place to walk on the footpath in Thailand, and in many Asian countries. Either there are food stalls or cars parked.

Jacques Koppert wrote a nice post about it, traffic rules in Thailand. Links can be found here on the site under dossiers traffic rules. Just read through those comments with a smile, great!
