Thai ladies

Dutch people do it holiday Preferably with British people, according to research that Maurice de Hond did for WTF.nl. Thai and people from Latin America are the least popular.

De Hond asked 1600 people about their sexual escapades on holiday and discovered that almost twenty percent of Dutch people on holiday have sex with a non-Dutch person. The British are by far the most popular for an exciting adventure. Almost a quarter of the Dutch have ended up with someone from Great Britain between the sheets. Our eastern neighbors also make our holiday heart beat faster; twenty percent ended up in bed with a German or German.

Sex on vacation

"What you get from afar is tasty" doesn't apply to willing meat for holiday sex. Only four percent of the Dutch have ever had sex with a Thai or someone from South America while on holiday. Of the Europeans, the Greeks and the Portuguese are the least popular.

The holiday did not end well for five percent of the Dutch with an erotic intermezzo outside the country's borders. They took an STD with them as a souvenir.

The complete overview:

  • England 22%
  • Germany 20%
  • Spain 16%
  • Belgium 15%
  • France 13%
  • Italy 12%
  • US 11%
  • Eastern Europe 10%
  • Scandinavia 8%
  • Africa 7%
  • Rest of Asia 7%
  • Greece 7%
  • Middle East 6%
  • Central America/Caribbean 5%
  • Portugal 5%
  • Australia/New Zealand 5%
  • Thailand 4%
  • Brazil 3%
  • Rest South America 3%
  • Other country (respondent does not want to say which nationality) 14%
  • Don't know/no answer 4%

The above answers come from 'average Dutch people'

Editor's note: This survey was conducted among Dutch men and women.

What an utterly pointless inquiry. Way too general and it really doesn't make any sense.
The British and Dutch often go on holiday to Spain, where they meet each other in discos: it is logical that more (short) relationships arise from this. Fewer Dutch people go to Thailand or – say something – South America and it is also easy to determine that there will be fewer such holiday romances.

It would be more interesting (although?) to conduct a study among Dutch people who come to Thailand on holiday and what percentage of them have sex with a Thai lady. I just have the idea that the percentage will be considerably higher than the 5% mentioned now.

    • @ Yes, you can make quite a few comments on this study. I don't quite understand why De Hond wants to link his name to this.
These kinds of studies are often done for free publicity. It is now cucumber time and no news is suddenly news. A survey about sex and holidays always scores. It was even on the radio (538). Well… for me it is also only filling on Thailandblog.

Also count how many Dutch people – men and women – have sex with men and boys.

In Pattaya, more people have sex with Thais than with other Europeans, take it from me. There must be a settlement after the deed, that's for sure.

I don't think, as the research indicates, that the average Dutch person goes to Pattaya, there are indeed a lot of sex tourists in Pattaya who only come for one thing and that is local girls come... you know, this research is about the average Dutch person and the average Dutch person is a bit more than a Pattaya visitor, I think, which is also good for the image of the Dutch person. Not that everyone who goes to Pattaya is a sex tourist. Far from it. It was therefore a general investigation very far away from the living environment of some Thailand visitors. Thailand and Thai ladies are not alone in the world. When I traveled here as a backpacker for 1 year, I also went with some nice girls, you know... and they were also other tourists and certainly not Thai barmaids that I had to pay, but yes, I came to Thailand. at the time for other things than to be a sex tourist, it of course depends on what intentions you come here with, or how your view of the world is focused.

The claims such as “Almost a quarter of the Dutch have ended up with someone from Great Britain between the sheets” are of course not correct. The 22% scored by the British must still be related to the total percentage that has sex with a non-Dutch person on holiday (almost 20%). So for every hundred Dutch holidaymakers, 100 x .22 x .20 = 4.4 or 4,4% have sex with a Briton.

You cannot conclude from the figures that Thai are the least popular.
The Thai are in 17th place and there are about 200 countries / nationalities.

The 7 combination scores 'Eastern Europe', 'Scandinavia', 'Africa', 'rest of Asia'. 'Middle East', 'Central America/Caribbean' and 'Australia/New Zealand' all represent several countries/nationalities that individually are unlikely to reach 4%, so that the areas/countries belonging to these areas are incorrectly above Thailand are listed.

If we correct for this, Thailand rises 7 places and storms into the Top 10.

Of all countries outside Europe, Thailand then even comes in second place, after the United States.

In short, measuring is knowing, but do know what you are measuring.

Yes, a pointless survey. To begin with, the size of the sample is already quite limited. But even if they had questioned 5 to 10 thousand Dutch people with the above result as a result, there is still a lot to criticize. So it is only logical that many holidaymakers bump into other Europeans. Especially when it comes to the popular holiday destinations for young people who travel to Spain etc. to go crazy. In the disco it will probably be easier to talk to a fellow countryman or English-speaking person than someone with a different mother tongue.

If they were to weigh the research by holiday destination, etc., I think the figures would look a lot different. The next question is whether you count all sex, distinguish between paid sex and spontaneous sex or focus on one of the two. The number of Dutch people who have sex in Thailand or other Asian countries will be considerably higher than the 4% mentioned here. What part of this is spontaneous sex with a local and which paid services is anyone's guess (a large part will be paid services, holidaymakers to Spain or the UK will largely have spontaneous sex, it seems to me).

In short, not exactly a good study... But it's cucumber time, isn't it?

This survey is a textbook example of how you can give a completely distorted picture of reality with numbers and is actually an extension of a study like this which showed the following:

“22% of all traffic fatalities are related to drunk driving”

That would mean that 78% of all road deaths are caused by road users who are completely sober behind the wheel and that they are therefore the real problem group, while we all know that this is not the case.

Statistics are ALWAYS subjective and they never teach us anything, because the studies are always done by researchers who want to prove something they want to see proven.

All statistics out of the world, starting with TB 😉

    • Rob V says up

Look, you would draw the wrong conclusion from correct figures. That 78% may have been sober, but obviously did something else wrong, such as speeding, reckless driving, dangerous weather conditions, etc. A good explanation of correct figures is therefore at least as important. Unfortunately, that explanation/conclusion that the media often provides is often wrong.

Another common mistake is reversing the relationship: all apples are fruit, so all fruit are apples… or “of all rotten fruit, 50% are apples, so 50% of all apples are rotten.”

      • cor verhoef says up

That good explanation, as you call it yourself, is almost always absent. When do you read information about the demographic layers in the social and economic field, surveys are held. Surveys exist to manipulate public opinion. If you are looking for reliable statistics, you have to rely on the Bosatlas.
