Film 'The Beach' causes more tourists to Thailand
The well-known film 'The Beach' with Leonardo DiCaprio, which was shot in Thailand, still appears to be a tourist magnet.
A British Airways survey of 2.000 travelers shows that many holidaymakers (40%) choose a holiday destination based on a film they have seen. Apparently, the beautiful images in feature films stimulate the desire to travel.

The majority of the women surveyed chose Danny Boyle's 'The Beach' as the ultimate travel film. This rendition starring Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed in Thailand. The beautiful white beaches enchanted the public. The recordings were made on the uninhabited island Phi Phi Leh which is located in the southwest of Thailand, in the Andaman Sea. Phi Phi Leh Beach – Maya Bay has become world famous. The story goes that Alex Gardner, author of the bestseller 'The Beach', got his inspiration from Ang Thong. That is a national park 31 km northwest of Koh Samui.
Among men, "The Hangover" trilogy is the most popular. This has made Las Vegas (part 1) and Thailand (part 2) a popular destination among male movie buffs.
