Thailand has a 100 year old Belgian: Maria Patyn. The embassy's Facebook page states the following:
“Maria Patyn turned 100 on November 9. She is probably the oldest Belgian in Thailand.
She was born into a family of butchers but married a baker. Trade was a given in her blood. At the age of 80, Maria was stricken with an eye disease, more specifically "degeneration of the macular". That was the time to move to a rest home for the elderly where she stayed until the end of 2013. But her son decided to take her to Thailand to take care of her there, more specifically in Korat. She is therefore very visually impaired, but it does not hinder her happiness.
Congratulations to Maria Patyn on your 100th birthday and may there be many more years to come!”
Of course I can only agree with that and wish her many happy years in Korat. Congratulations Mary.
