More Dutch people on flying holiday this summer
This summer, 70% of the Dutch population is expected to go on holiday, which is almost 12 million Dutch people. Just like in 2018, more than 8,8 million Dutch people go abroad and more than 2,5 million Dutch people opt for a long summer holiday in their own country.
This has emerged from large-scale research that NBTC-NIPO Research recently carried out into the holiday plans of the Dutch population.
The elderly find sustainable holidays important
Almost 60% of the Dutch think it is important to take sustainability into account when booking a holiday. “Compared to 2010 when we also asked this question, no change can be seen. Sustainable holidays are particularly important to people aged 65 and over (65%), which is more than what Dutch people between the ages of 25 and 34 indicate (51%),” says Frans van der Horst.
The Dutch are positive about sustainable holidays
More and more Dutch people have a positive attitude towards sustainable holidays. “In 2010, 19% of the Dutch people disagreed with the fact that a sustainable holiday is hard. This year, 27% have indicated that they disagree with this,” says Van der Horst. “In addition, more and more Dutch people are realizing that you can change something yourself by traveling sustainably.”
