More than a quarter (28%) of the Dutch do not check when booking a holiday whether the travel provider is affiliated with a trade association or guarantee fund. This is evident from the “Carefree Vacation Research” of D-reizen, which was recently carried out among 385 Dutch people.

Nevertheless, 84% of the Dutch indicate that they find it important that a travel provider is affiliated with the ANVR, SGR and the Calamity Fund. If a travel provider is not affiliated with these parties, there is a risk of booking a holiday without guarantees. For example, with regard to getting your money back in the event of a bankruptcy or strike.

The Dutch are often not aware of the lack of guarantees

There are various online booking platforms that are not affiliated with ANVR, SGR and the Calamity Fund. Customers who book an accommodation and/or a flight with an online booking platform that is not affiliated cannot therefore use the securities and guarantees offered by the ANVR, SGR or the Calamity Fund. However, a large part of the Dutch are not aware of this at all.

If, like me and many others, you only book a flight ticket, SGR is of no use to you (you do not have to pay the 2,50 euros). I think it's important to get my ticket as soon as possible. We did see a very nice tour through the Philippines once, but it turned out that the organizer was not connected. For this reason it is therefore disregarded.
