In collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the embassy in Thailand, the Dutch embassy in Malaysia is organizing a waste management mission. It will take place from 6 to 11 October in Thailand and Malaysia.

The mission supports Dutch companies in entering the ASEAN market. The waste sector includes waste management, collection and transport, sorting, recycling and Waste-to-energy (WtE).

Opportunities for Dutch companies in ASEAN countries

Due to the rapidly growing population and economies in the ASEAN countries, the amount of waste produced is expected to increase further in the coming years. All ASEAN countries are now convinced that better waste management is necessary to protect the environment and the health of the population. The ASEAN region is also responsible for a lot of plastic in rivers and seas.

Governments therefore want to close waste dumps and work towards a decrease in waste, more recycling and waste-to-energy (WtE).

To achieve these goals, the government is looking for foreign partners. Major Malaysian concession holders are also actively looking for new technology for waste treatment. Some Dutch companies are already active in Malaysia and are looking for partners to offer a chain solution.

Opportunity report

This mission is a follow-up to a market study (pdf, in English) (PDF, 1,7 MB) commissioned by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl). The embassies in Thailand and Malaysia have established important public and private contacts for closer cooperation on waste management. They can support you with advice and contacts in taking further steps in this market.

Contact

You can register for this mission until Saturday 31 August. For more information or questions about the waste sector in Malaysia, please contact the embassy at [email protected]
