Chanthaburi police have charged the son of one of their colleagues with murder after he repeatedly hit a 25-year-old man with a billiard cue to death. The local court has ordered the Chanthaburi police to take into custody Chayut Phuphuak, the 36-year-old son of police officer Preecha Phuphuak.

An initial investigation shows that Chayut attacked 25-year-old Kanok Wichiansin, who was helping a friend in a fight with another. Kanok was initially knocked unconscious, the perpetrator left the billiard room, but came back to repeatedly hit the victim on the head with the cue until the victim stopped moving and appeared to be dead.

The incident, which took place around midnight last Friday, was captured on CCTV and shown on social media. The victim's grandmother asked for justice for her grandson and when no action was taken until Sunday, she went to the police station herself to insist on further investigation.

The Chanthaburi police then announced that the suspect - who had turned himself in in the meantime - is charged with murder. He has been taken into custody while police continue to investigate the CCTV footage and collect witness statements.

Nothing new under the Thai sun, see this kind of violence every morning here on Thai TV, and believe me, cameras are not everywhere, Thailand has a big problem, as far as the current youth is concerned.

    Dear Readers,

There is no need for a Judge to be involved here, after seeing this footage recorded via CCTV, it is 100% clear that this young man is guilty of first degree murder.
His father will not be able to save him from this.
And of course it would be great if this son of a policeman would get the highest punishment for this.
Life imprisonment (150 years) or the death penalty.
Perhaps then the Thai population can regain respect for the policemen.
This week I myself saw a policeman stomping and hitting a suspect with an iron bar while the suspect was already lying on the ground with handcuffs on.
I hope that the military in Thailand will quickly put an end to these lusts for power !!!
    Best regards,

    A true Thailand enthusiast.

Keep dreaming but this is Thailand.
A lot of noise and point to pole it is neatly solved.
Many Thais earn money by taking prison sentences.
A Thai friend of mine has just been released from serving someone's sentence.
30.000 baht was paid every month, much more than he can earn by working.
Forget the Netherlands when you talk about Thai justice.

It's Thailand, doesn't matter if they're cops or soldiers: it's in their culture. Pikkie must have been afraid of losing face and therefore had to prove himself. As for a possible sentence: this man really does not get a life sentence, let alone the death penalty. The relatives of the victim receive an amount of money and the perpetrator receives a good slap on the fingers. Case closed. Next!

Apparently you have already forgotten about that beaten-to-death soldier.

Yes, this is the other side of Thailand, increasing violence especially among young people, have seen it in the news on TV.

LOS is not always “land of smile”.

Yes, absurd excessive force that is used. Such a boy deserves to be severely punished if it is proved that he was the cause of death. There are quite a few of these types around in Thailand and it is better to avoid them. There is no country to sail with. I understood that his father, as a fairly senior police chief, would not interfere in this matter. I do feel sorry for this man. It will be your son. Losing face is what happened to him and you will carry that with you for the rest of your life.

Unbelievable that no one stopped him.

Too disgusting to comment on. Just note that this sick behavior passes almost daily on TV.
It is presented as entertainment. Nothing changes. it's only getting worse.

    Mind blow!

First, the victim is knocked unconscious.
The culprit leaves. In the meantime, no one helps the victim.
Then the perpetrator comes back and beats the victim to death!

    Again no one intervenes!
