Vietnam's Civil Aviation Authority is working on a plan to resume some international flights from September 15. However, passengers must be quarantined for 14 days after arrival in the country.

Under the plan, the first international flights will go to Japan and South Korea, with four flights a week on each route, the report said. Vietnam's transport ministry is meeting today with the ministries of foreign affairs, defence, health and labor to discuss the plan.

Vietnam halted international commercial flights on April 1 amid the virus outbreak, causing local airlines to lose an estimated $4 billion this year.

It seems that Vietnam has looked at Thailand?
But we also have to wait and see about the how and what regarding the quarantine.

Are travelers also obliged to stay in (too) expensive hotels?

I see a "bait" for long-stay tourism or hibernators. For those who can barely take three weeks of vacation (moi) it is not an option.

So that will have to wait until the next holiday period in 2021, before the average traveler can go that way again.

The only advantage is that you can save a little longer for a next visit to SE Asia…
