Home » News from Thailand » Four days of heavy rain and possible flooding from tropical storm Sonca
The Meteorological Department is again warning of tropical storm Sonca, which will cause heavy rain and possible flooding in many places in Thailand. Somca was located 350 km east of Vinh (Vietnam) on Monday morning with winds of 65 km per hour and is expected to reach the coast of Vietnam on Tuesday.
The storm will move as a depression to Laos, the northern part of the Northeast and the north of Thailand. Heavy rain showers are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, rain is predicted in the North, Northeast and East, there may be flooding.
Next week, rainwater from Sonca will reach the Chao Phraya River. To be prepared for this, the water outflow of the Chao Phraya dam in Chai Nat has been increased. The water level downstream in Ang Thong and Ayutthaya will therefore rise by 15 to 25 cm.
In the northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom, a flood warning has been issued for the Mekong. The water level rises by 20 to 30 cm every day and stood at 10 meters on Monday, 3 meters below the flood level.
The editors have already heard from various readers from Isaan that it is raining heavily.

Here today Tuesday, lots of sun and beautiful weather. Maybe that depression has taken a detour, or is sitting somewhere cozy drinking a beer, but here in Udonthani today sun and no rain.
Here in the city of Khon Kaen (17.00) no rain seen today.
Have to say that we have little trouble here in HANG-Dong, but have to say that long before the rainy season starts, all water sides are cleaned, and water plants and rubbish are removed
Here in Sisaket it has been falling from the sky since last night and flooding everywhere, I hold my heart for tonight.

In Narathiwat it also rains heavily at times, although we are very far from the areas mentioned. Unfortunately, the dry season here lasts only a very short time, so we are already in the rainy season of eight to 9 months.
Nongbualamphu, no rain and very warm.
Maptaphut, yesterday and today we had short very strong gusts of wind and cloudbursts, but the duration was very short, 10 to 15 minutes, further both days alternated with some light rain and also some sun.

Dong Sing, just north of Roi-et, heavy rain since afternoon.
Yesterday around 8 o'clock heavy rain with thunder
Chumphon: yesterday very strong wind but little rain
today, Wednesday, less wind but pouring rain, since early morning.
Yesterday very heavy rain in Phang nga. And that is very far from the north.
