The police expect serious traffic problems in Bangkok next week at the start of the new school year, now that the school holidays are almost over.

Due to the construction of the new metro lines, there are many road closures. The police have asked the contractors to cooperate in closing as few roads as possible.

Known bottlenecks are the Phahon Yothin Road and roads in Ramkhamhaeng and Lat Phrao. This year the situation is made worse by the construction of the Orange metro line from Thailand Cultural Center to Min Buri. Since the excavation work started at the end of last year, there have been more traffic jams.

The first schools will open on May 15.
