As it looks now, alcohol can be served in restaurants again from June 15th. Phase 4 of the lifting of the lockdown may start next Monday instead of July 1.

Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said a decision will be made on Friday. Restaurants and hotels may serve alcoholic drinks again, but pubs, bars and karaoke are not yet.

Other possible relaxations as of June 15 are:

  • Congress and exhibition centers are allowed to open.
  • Events are allowed if visitors sit at least one meter apart.
  • Sports competitions without spectators are allowed.
  • Concerts are allowed provided the audience does not sing along.
  • On public transport, two passengers can sit next to each other as long as one seat is empty on either side.
  • Filming is allowed with a maximum of 150 men and 50 spectators.
  • Spas and saunas can open again.
  • Amusement parks, playgrounds, water parks and swimming pools can reopen.
  • Outdoor sports are allowed in groups.
  • Arcades in shopping malls could reopen.

If the government or Prayut takes this decision, it means that all the people who work in the bars or discotheques, plus the owners, are still out of work, so also without income. From the beginning nothing has been done for this group by the official authorities. And now they have to wait again and hope for donations from donors who are fortunately still active. But why is there such a focus on this group, massages are open again, people always come very close, especially with the type of massage opportunities that are active here.
What the hell is wrong with opening the open beer bars with social distancing in the first place, why is there such an obsession with alcohol??? The whole tourist industry in Pattaya is definitely geared towards this kind of occasion, and there are still hundreds of thousands of farang that are now being drained.I am 64 years old and have lived in Thailand for 12 years, have seen a lot of bad governments pass by, but this government beats everything regarding bad economics thinking and acting. The messages are contradictory, because in today's Bangkok post it says that there will be consultations on Saturday regarding, among other things, the opening of bars and pubs, hopefully they will finally come to an understanding (but unfortunately I still doubt it)

Hundred thousands in pattaya ? According to various forums, the number of permanent foreigners is in any case under 10.000. Opening the bars gives the same result as opening the massage shops: Hardly any customers. Many will remain closed for lack of patronage

I have to say here, that the population is keeping pretty calm,, in my village, but watch out for the calm before the storm,, people are no longer taking this, I think there will be riots soon, this will continue don't worry, open the bars.
