A 30-year-old Thai man and his nephew have been arrested in Udon Thani because they are suspected of hacking an ATM cash machine using a cutting torch.

The two robbed the Krung Thai Bank ATM in Udon Thani city at night on June 9. The police seized 1.123.000 baht in cash, a pickup truck, crowbar, gas cylinder, acetylene burner, two motorcycles, a house purchase contract, a new television, washing machine, refrigerator and gold ornaments. The men were tracked down thanks to CCTV footage.

The prime suspect says he acted because he couldn't pay off his pickup truck. He claims never to have committed such a squat before, but the police do not believe that. Before the ATM was cut open, the suspects disabled the ATM's security system.
