Train traffic to the south of Thailand has been halted after a heavy bomb attack seriously damaged the train from Bangkok to Sungai Kolok last Saturday.

The bomb exploded near Ban Nikhom Khok Po station in Pattani. Half of the rear carriage of the Sungai Kolok – Bangkok train was completely destroyed. A railway employee was killed and three people were injured, including the station master. The others were a volunteer and a railway employee.

Because there is no longer a train, many Muslims who go to the South to celebrate the Eid Al-Adha day on Monday have to look for alternative transport. The railways expect to need ten days to repair the rails.

The train from Bangkok now runs no further than Hat Yai in Songkhla. At Sungai Kolok bus terminal in Narathiwat, travelers have to transfer to the provincial bus or a minibus. Transport Co Ltd says it will deploy additional buses.

Some media suggest that train traffic is deliberately suspended indefinitely so that the security services have time to investigate the matter and to assess the safety of the railway to the south.

    Like this,

If this train had exploded at one of the stations, the consequences would have been enormous.
What possesses these kinds of people?

This terror has been going on for years and the police still don't have the perpetrators, this is starting to come across as “strange” to me, especially considering the “sometimes' quick results of other crimes in Thailand.

Good luck to everyone living in the South.

    Greetings Nico
