The government is planning the next round of easing virus measures. This concerns the reopening of large buildings after May 17. However, with rules for visitors to prevent large groups of people.

Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said today that opinions and proposals are being gathered from Friday to next Tuesday for the next round of easing.

Taweeslip says that the scaling down of the measures will only continue if the number of infections remains low. Since Sunday, small entrepreneurs have been allowed to reopen their shops, subject to conditions. The second round concerns large stores. However, there must be sufficient cooperation from entrepreneurs when it comes to preventive measures.

The number of Thais who are allowed to return from abroad remains limited for the time being. “Most local infection cases in Thailand involve infected returnees and people who were in close contact with them,” said Dr. Tawesilp.

The first group allowed to return home are those who are sick, stranded in airports or have expired visas, and tourists stranded in other countries. The next group are monks on pilgrimage, students and laid-off workers.
