Thai Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has once again made controversial statements. According to many, it was even an extremely racist attack on Westerners in Thailand. In a Tweet, Anutin called farangs "dirty" and accused Europeans of spreading the coronavirus because they don't want to wear masks.

In a Twitter message, he lashed out at Western visitors to his country. He called 'farangs' dirty people who don't shower. He also more or less blames Western foreigners for the virus outbreak: “They fled Europe and come to Thailand and ensure a further spread of the Covid-19 virus,” said the minister.

He advises his compatriots to avoid Farang, because 'no one wears a mask'. He had seen that when he made a trip to Chiang Mai.

Last month, Anutin also made controversial statements about foreigners when he saw at a Skytrain station that Western foreigners did not want to wear a face mask. He then apologized for his statements, but apparently that was only for the stage.

In another Twitter post, he went even further. He had been to Chiang Mai and saw that there were hardly any Chinese tourists, only farangs. There he saw that 90% of Thais wore a face mask, but not a single “farang” wore one. And according to him, that is why “their” countries are so badly affected by the corona virus. According to him, it is cold in Europe and that ensures that the virus can spread quickly. That is why the Europeans would flee and come to Thailand.

Minister concludes: “Many are shabbily dressed and they do not take showers. We have to be careful with them”.

  1. I could be wrong, but this man doesn't seem very intelligent. Perhaps he bought his diplomas on Khao San Road? Oh, he'll soon say his Twitter account has been hacked.

He must be a very good soldier.

Like so many who bought their diplomas and/or got an important position through favoritism.

No, he fears the worst for his country.
It is of course not good what he says now, but I do understand him.

Suppose the Dutch Minister of Health says 'I call on you all to put on a tinfoil hat against GSM radiation, but those dirty Chinese people who visit our country don't do this, let them fuck off!'. Should they then say in Asia 'Yes, it's racist and crazy, but understandable because that man cares about his country'. ???

Well, that hits hard! Took my monthly scrub out of fright today.

What a gentleman, that minister. You know that the Thai is xenophobic (until the banknotes start rolling) but he takes the cake. It is forgotten that China is the real culprit, but memory is relative in Thailand. Quickly forget this man. This is unworthy of his job.

He just shouts something, they sometimes call it media horny.
Of course you have to be able to deal with that, feet on the ground.

Many Thai don't even plump this guy.
If doctors and specialists already declare that face masks are not sufficient, why is this man still working in this way.
Of course, among the farangs, but actually among every population group, there are people who do not take hygiene very seriously.
By now I'm starting to wonder if I still feel welcome here, because this comment keeps simmering.
Or is the glass half empty or half full?

  9. hk77 says up

This minister is a champion in comparing apples to oranges. Statements like this will only “promote” tourism. A warm welcome indeed. I will avoid Thailand like the plague for now. The whole nagging with their app when one visits Thailand as a tourist and now this again. Nice that this minister visited Chiang Mai. He also saw the many empty shops that run on tourism. Or the elephant camp that sounds the alarm. Uh no, that doesn't fit in with the new policy. Only stigmatizing without being able to check (with the emphasis on ability) how much damage this “expert” causes to his compatriots. Outside of tourism, the Thai infrastructure hardly offers anything Thailand is slowly moving towards North Korea. Or perhaps the next province of China.

Of course, after Trump, Thailand could not stay behind. Europe is the main culprit according to these 2 idiots. I hope there are also normal people with saner thoughts in Thai politics. It would be smart to completely remove this man from this position. No sensible contribution is to be expected from him. He's also clearly not learning from his past stupid behavior. It's a shame that such a moron is maintained in such a position on the basis of friendly politics (cannot be selected on expertise, after all).

  15. Tiswat says up

Let it go, that man. Pay no attention and effort to it. Bangkok Post reports today: “five new local cases of the coronavirus disease , all linked to people arriving from Hong Kong and South Korea.”. And yesterday you could read about “drinking buddies, 11 more patients infected with the coronavirus, all friends who went out drinking together despite some being ill, the Public Health Ministry said on Thursday.” Typical Thai, that indifference and lack of sense of responsibility: “despite some being ill!”. And still lurking at each other's glass and cigarette. Anutin also shows that indifference and lack of responsibility. As a minister placed high in the Thai hierarchy, he should pay more attention to his statements. The highest placed in his country likes to be in farangland himself. The Thai people prefer farang to Chinese: farang have more sympathy for them, associate with Thai people, and have an eye for and a sense of their needs. That is why they often settle in Thailand. Chinese, on the other hand, do more business. It's about money. Anutin will be more sensitive to that. Hence. Stupid!

What I have seen here in Pattaya for a long time… kitchen staff in Central go to the toilet and do not wash their hands… farangs also wipe their feet there… come to the conclusion that 3 out of 10 people do not wash their hands. paper tissues.. neither farangs. But there are exceptions.
People sneeze all over the place…bread is exposed here…and many feel whether it is fresh.
There are also a lot of perverts walking around here for which I do walk a bit.

  17. Harry Roman says up

How is it possible that this man can stay in his position? No prime minister, his political party, parliament, public opinion (if they matter at all in TH), ensures that this man will continue his career elsewhere.
That man is even too stupid to understand that only a mask for the mouth offers no protection against viruses unless applied with knowledge and skill and refreshed very regularly, otherwise that rag is nothing but a hotbed for bacteria, less than cm for your own mouth and nose.

And you - dirty farangs - really think you can repatriate your 400-800k THB or the value of your house - on someone else's land -, your car, etc. unhindered if these kind of politicians really get the say?

In the USA they have a good solution for this: Lock him up.
When he was in Chiang Mai he apparently only saw dirty farang, but not that the air pollution is worse than ever, the mountains are not visible, there is a dirty blanket over the city and from about 8 o'clock in the evening you can smell the open burning, but that does not fit his political alley.
Vies clearly has a political xenophobic explanation in the sick mind of the health minister Anutin. Lock him up.

  20. rene23 says up

Chiang Mai was/is the dirtiest city on this planet!!
You don't hear him about that.

  21. Sake says up

I'm too low to the floors to waste words on this.

  22. support says up

First of all, I wonder on (lack of) what capacities (??) this figure has become Minister of Health.
If, according to him, these unwashed and shabbily dressed farangs from the corona area apparently passed the medical checks without any problem upon arrival in BKK, then he really needs to have a tough conversation with his colleague minister responsible for this. Well, that's him of course. Well!!!

And then some more. I live in Chiangmai and have been surprised that only a small percentage of Thais wear such a face mask. I estimate that it is less than 10% and 90% is grossly out of touch with reality.
But those blank patches (face masks, sorry mister minister) with holes that 4 viruses go through or around at the same time, because they also don't close properly. In addition, the viruses also enter through the eyes. So just a piece of cloth without splash goggles offers no protection at all. So that's why Thais don't or hardly wear those things.

Moreover: there have been about 50 corona infections in Thailand for several weeks, right? So what does this upswept sergeant care about? In the photo, he addresses a number of journalists, while he only holds an unused face mask in his hand. Good example, shall we say.

    • Rob V says up

Yes, a full-face helmet with a closed visor is more effective than a piece of cloth with an elastic band.

  23. Robert says up

Yes, I agree with many that these statements are very discriminatory and that his country also earns a lot of money from those Farangs, but on the other hand I also agree with him.
We (3 Farangs) have been living in Thailand for 10 years and it has surprised us lately that we are almost the only ones who wear a face mask as a foreigner. Today also in Paragon. all Thais wear one, but not a single foreigner. Have also just returned from Chiang Man and Rai and the same story there..
Every evening with a shuttle bus to the center from the hotel and we were the only ones with a face mask. Even went out for dinner once and that we were acting up and that it was just as bad as a flu and we shouldn't be acting like it. Now hopefully they will beep differently because in 1 week Time there have been so many cases in the Netherlands and still no face mask. So if the shoe fits….
But I can't stand that comment from the minister. and yes that smog in Chiang Mai/Rai was terrible.
So first get all those old buses out of Bangkok and replace those municipal boats
Just wear a face mask again tomorrow
    Good evening

    • Rob V says up

Apparently you believe in symbolic measures just like this minister? Masks are useless in most cases and often people wear the wrong types or in the wrong way. If your mask doesn't close airtight around your face, it's useless. All those people with doctors masks on the bus and stuff are fooling themselves. Just as spraying water with tankers does not help against particulate matter. But it looks nice, like we're doing 'something'…

      The WHO writes:

you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected 2019-nCoV infection.Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.

      https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/when-and-how-to-use-masks

In short: only in specific cases does a mask have a but and then you have to wear it properly. Sitting on the bus with disposable mouth wipes is pointless.

    • Renee Martin says up

It is questionable whether the masks worn in Thailand really help and the ones I had seen were certainly of a quality that is a waste of money. Perhaps this website is informative: https://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/buitenland/artikel/4996151/mondkapje-helpt-dat-virus-coronavirus-masker-kapje

  24. Patrick says up

I think the best man has aspirations to be president of the United States.

  25. John Chiang Rai says up

On his trip to Chiang Mai, this health minister should have noticed, apart from the farangs without a mask, the great smog that has been getting smarter for years.
Smog that has made Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and other cities in Thailand, with insufficient measures by his government, the dirtiest and most dangerous cities in the world.
An air cleaning installation as it is now installed in front of the Tha Phae Gate in Chiang Mai, although the installation itself is already ridiculed, is only suitable for those whom this government still sells for stupidity.
It is not only the Coronavirus that forces people to hide their faces behind a mask, it is also the bad air that, with insufficient measures from this government, is poisoning large parts of the country every year.
Or is this air pollution, for which they themselves are responsible, also brought into the country from farangs. 555

  26. GeertP says up

Before a very long list arises with indignant reactions to this minister of health and a Thai against Farang atmosphere arises, we can simply ignore these statements.
The same is happening in the west, politicians in Europe and the US blame “foreigners” for just about everything that goes wrong.

We live in a time where populists have great influence and in some cases even call the shots, look at the US where they think they are protecting their own population with a wall and an entry ban for Europe.

Only cooperation can solve the problems, pointing a scapegoat only makes things worse, as history has shown many times.

    • Tiswat says up

What Trump is doing is of a completely different order. Trump is out for political gain. Trump proclaims that Europe is bringing the virus to the US and blames the US contamination there. For the sake of convenience, he “forgets” the infections between the various states. Trump is not saying that Europeans stink, don't shower, nor are they dirty. Tomorrow he will say the opposite again: if the wind blows, his jacket will blow!

Anutin, on the other hand, is only insulting out of personal aversion to farang. To this end, he uses a different kind of language, with a different connotation and intention. Very bad!

  27. Christian says up

Mister Anutin forgets that recently 80 Thai guest workers entered Thailand unchecked from South Korea. They checked 60 and forgot the other 80.

  28. Gertg says up

I have always enjoyed reading Thailandblog and found the information useful. Lately, however, I have been annoyed by all the negative reactions to things that are going on in Thailand. Whether it's about the price system, immigration, visa rules or government statements. The response to this is always negative. And yes I know that not everything here is perfect or well organized. And the people here do not all speak our language perfectly. If we can't handle that, there's only one solution! Go back to your homeland.

Again with the statement of this minister who, according to a response here, would have bought his diploma on Khao San Road. Downright disgusting.

If I see some farang walking around here, see how they behave, how they dress and also smell the smell they spread, then this minister is right! Just dirty farang!
Also refusing to wear masks in crowded places to prevent the spread of this virus is simply undermining the authority here. There is still a saying: "whoever is boss bakes cakes even if they are inedible". What you do at home is “up to you”.

    • Dear Geert, you think a little racism, of all things, a minister should be able to? Says more about you than most of the commenters here.

    • Jacques says up

Dear Geert, this man generalizes and puts every foreigner in a damn corner. Also the foreigners who shower at least twice a day and change clothes and possibly wear a face mask, because this man thinks this is so important. So feeling sorry for this person is misplaced. If you profile yourself in this way, you are not in the right place and this position is too ambitious. Whether and what diplomas he has, who knows. Much is false in this country. Corruption on every level, so it shouldn't surprise me that there's more going on than meets the eye. In any case, it can be read from these statements that some wisdom in this area does not prevent him from proclaiming nonsense. In any case, I stick to the opinions of the experts.

    • Rob says up

Hi Geert, are you applying for a job as special secretary of this idiot?

    • ruud says up

As far as I know, no law has been enacted that makes wearing face masks mandatory.
So there can be no question of undermining authority.

In the village, no one wears a face mask, except for the people who used to do so.

      Stinky farangs?
Perhaps that is because there is not a good water supply.

    • John Chiang Rai says up

Yes, you have Farang who go so far in their immeasurable fantasy that they feel themselves almost more Thai than the Thai themselves, and therefore no longer understand that the generalizing insult does not concern some people, but also them.
Of course it is proper to behave as a guest, but it is not exactly the same for the host.?
And then always the trite requisition, if someone addresses something that is not right, that you better dig up to your home country.
Defending all this and praising things in heaven that don't really belong there is just so disturbing to read for something realistically thinking.

    • hk77 says up

Dear Geert, there is such a thing as an opinion. That opinions differ and can diverge is part of it. Especially when you read topics on a forum or post a comment yourself. You are annoyed by certain reactions. I read what you write yourself now, I'm afraid you're just participating. Doesn't matter because if that's your opinion, that's fine with me. However, I get the impression that you seem to be missing the point. This man generalizes and it annoys me. Much more than if I ever met a smelly tourist ( I deliberately omit the word farang ) in Thailand. If I get to that level I might as well say how many smelly Thai taxi drivers I've ever smelled in all the years I've been visiting Thailand. Do I wake up from that? No absolutely not. Or mention a loaded term such as undermining authority. As another contributor rightly wrote: nowhere in Thailand is there an obligation to wear a mouth mask. Which leaves me in the middle for a moment whether such an average mask on the street is of any use.

What I miss is that this minister simply ignores real problems (air pollution, inadequate controls on Corona), because that costs him and his "gang" pennies. There is just such a loyal figure of authority in Brazil. He recently visited the chief populist in the White House. Why peck such nonsense. Or are farangs only seen as a cash cow in Thailand. In that case my advice would also be go back to your homeland. But don't shout these kinds of slogans because people express a different opinion and would undermine "authority". The game is not worth the candle

    • Tiswat says up

Dear Geertg: keep in mind that I don't expect my boss to bake cakes that cannot be eaten. If the boss wants to bake cakes, I can expect them to be edible. He has that responsibility. Or he should have the guts to really say how he feels about farang and their presence in Thailand.
Incidentally, wearing mouth masks is very debatable. Says many experts, including the WHO. In Asia, wearing it is only more or less common due to the huge and immense air pollution. Politics has cleverly capitalized on this habituation to send people into the woods with a peaceful feeling. Just wear a face mask, keep your mouth shut behind it. In the meantime, make money from it.

  29. Rob V says up

He never really apologized for the previous incident:

After all, the minister of health has apologized for his outbursts of anger, but not towards foreigners. On his Facebook he wrote:

'ผมขออภัยที่แสดงอาการไม่เหมาะสมผ่านสื่อมว Image caption More information '

Short translation: I'm sorry for how I came out to the media, but I will never apologize to foreigners who don't respect and who don't comply with measures against the disease'

Mister is convinced that those disposable mouth wipes help... anyone who doesn't wear them is a k*ss who has to fuck off. Such is his opinion.

    https://www.facebook.com/100001536522818/posts/3036373556423832

    And this time:

“It's winter right now in Europe so these people are fleeing the cold in Thailand. Many are dressed dirty and never shower. As hosts, we have to be careful. Even they don't want to mingle with each other, closing their borders,” the post said.

“Today I'm in Chiang Mai. There's pretty much no more Chinese tourists, only farangs. More than 90% of Thai wear masks, but not a single farang has one. This is why there're so many infections in their countries,” another tweet from anutin_c said. “We have to be more careful of Westerners than Asians.”

they should immediately fire that guy, because this guy is first of all out of his mind
and secondly, it is a danger to the state who has little good with thailand.

  34. The laender says up

We already know that the training in Thailand leaves much to be desired, but one would expect something more from a minister and then of public health.
But it is a military and one can indeed not expect more from that, it is a pity for Thailand that as a country they allow themselves to be ridiculed by such an idiot.

  35. chris says up

Peter (formerly Khun) has placed the wrong photo with this article. Those who follow the Thai news over the past two weeks have no doubt seen that in every meeting Mr Anutin is the (only) minister who wears a white short-sleeved shirt with a beeper in the breast pocket. It makes it seem like he's a doctor (who is constantly saving people's lives). Incidentally, no one wears a face mask in the ministerial meeting. I think impersonating a doctor in Thailand is punishable, but that will not apply to ministers. They also do not have to be quarantined when they return from Korea or China.

    • hans says up

I completely agree with this minister. The "dirty" farangs are the cause of the spread. Not the Chinese who eat bats and make soup out of them. That's where the virus originated, everyone knows that, except for the Minister of Health in Thailand. Because he's a pathetic media horny guy with an IQ that probably won't exceed 80. And if you still think that farangs are welcome in Thailand, this post is a warning to you about how the Thais really feel about the farangs. We are tolerated but deep down they hate us but we bring money into the country to make the economy run better there and most Thai men envy the farangs because they have more money and treat the women there with more respect than most Thai men. And if you just want to have a quiet, affordable life in Thailand, that is still possible. Don't stand out too much in Thailand and just do your own thing there. Do not try to change the Thai mentality, you will not succeed. Just like the Thai, try to conjure up a smile, whether you mean it or not, they do that themselves. Don't fight it because you will lose. Produce the smile and then another world will open for you in Thailand. Ps I only shower when I get a comment that I start to smell, so once a month seems sufficient to me, Haha

      • ruud says up

Quote: We are tolerated, but deep down they hate us

What evidence do you have that the Thai hate us?
There will undoubtedly be some, but there are even white people who hate (other) white people.

In the village where I live, everyone is equally polite and friendly to me.
When I go into town, I am treated nicely and kindly everywhere.

If you come to the well-known entertainment areas such as Pattaya, the situation may be different.
In the first place, the coming and going tourists are primarily seen as a source of income.
Secondly, entertainment areas, especially where alcohol, drugs and prostitution play a major role, generally attract bad people.
The chance of bad experiences is therefore a lot greater there, elsewhere.

  36. Freek says up

I lived and worked in Bangkok for 8 years and had a good time. The chaos and behavior in traffic, not keeping to agreements, etc. I have learned to live with it all and never really complained about it. But yesterday I saw the PM on Thai television with a cloth face mask (which does not stop viruses) and that also kept falling down under his nose. What are you doing then? Then you always pull the face mask upwards, grasping it on the outside. Most viruses are on the outside! Behind the PM stood a man without a face mask. What now; Foreigners are no good again! I think more and more that I can be happy that I left Thailand. It is becoming more and more against you. Shame!

  37. marc says up

And then we will not mention the Thai who takes mouth masks out of the rubbish bin and sells them back

  38. Yan says up

This idiotic statement, from an equivalent “minister” will certainly help to make farangs realize that they are no longer welcome….and happily spend their money and their pension elsewhere…Amazing Thailand….Bye Bye!

  39. Jozef says up

This less gifted “minister” belongs to the older generation of Thai men who do not know what thinking is. you can tell from him that he enters a trance when he can express his hatred of farang. It's a good thing he's BUT minister of health, otherwise no farang would still be free. Put them in bangkok hilton.

  40. Mark says up

In addition to being a minister of public health, this man is also deputy prime minister. He sits in the core cabinet. He and his party are one of the main pillars of this government. Without it, this government has no majority. The man is therefore quasi “intouchable” in the current power constellation.

Anyone who thinks this is an idiot who just spouts some nonsense is mistaken.

  41. Peter23 says up

That man mainly makes a fool of himself and is precisely not what the tourism sector needs in the future.
It is so easy to blame foreigners for these problems when the country has problems where there are many more casualties such as the 65 road deaths every day. But yeah, they can't blame the farangs for that.

  42. Dirk says up

When I see how some Farang walk around and see their attitude I can agree with him!

    Not nice of this gentleman!
Incidentally, I have never seen so many rats running, in the twilight but also in daylight, as in Thailand!
But the Thai people are very clean on their bodies, with exceptions.
I think that also from the average farang, an invigorating shower is a party, isn't it?

As far as those mouth masks are concerned, I can't blame him...

And the Thais are usually very hygienic when it comes to their bodies… this cannot always be said of foreigners…

    • He can also ask if everyone wants to put on a party hat, which just as well (does not) help against contamination.

Could this minister have been whispered what China has decided today?

China is no longer giving any information about Covid-19 cases EXCEPT if they are found among travelers from other countries. And those cases are then widely reported in the media to show that the Chinese approach works and ours does not. To protect its borders, China has now also banned climbing Mount Everest (although Nepal still allows it on its side…) and China has also sent a plane full of experts and traditional Chinese medicines to Italy.

The cover-up is ready to be filled and you bet, other countries will soon have done it. Trump is already on that track…

Here in Pattaya I see very few people with a face mask ... and among the few who wear one, there are almost more farangs than Thais.

I continue to find it amazing how such stupid half-crazy quibuses end up in such important positions? If you consider what requirements a Jan Modaal must meet to be able to hold a simple position, this seems really incomprehensible to me.

Bravo! Finally a Thai minister who clearly knows what he is talking about and says exactly how those dirty Westerners in Thailand should be viewed - and now it is not good again!

  49. Alexander says up

I do understand him on one side. Corona is currently becoming a terrible plague.
But don't the Westerners understand that they don't want to put on a face mask out of good decency.
In a few days I will also fly to Bangkok and I can tell you that I will wear a face mask.

After all, I am also just a guest of that country there.
In our own country we also have things that the emigrants find difficult to deal with, but I think that if you enter a country that you also behave according to their standards and values.

So set a good example when you enter Thailand and that we also respect their norms and values.

I'm on a full bus from Khon Kaen to BKK, all Thai on board. No one with a useless face mask. I'll get up in a minute and tell them they're all indecent and don't respect Thai values. Disgraceful… Maybe the driver should drive on and deport us all.

      • Rob V says up

Oh, in the back were 2 people with a disposable mask, under the chin. Upon arrival in Bangkok itself, a few also put on such a thin disposable mask. Pointless.

Such statements do tourism in AMAZING THAILAND …… really not good.
Can't the Min.President call this man to order because many FARANGS and especially me think such statements are really no longer possible in this time with Social Media......

Air pollution. Chiangmai: 255! The sun is barely visible! We are at CNX airport to fly to Ubon and there the pollution is 155, so also unhealthy!
    Beijing: 95
    New Delhi: 87
    Bangkok: 127.
    Face masks, Mr. Health Minister

Chiang Rai adds another scoop – well, scoop – on top, Peer: 388 at 13.00pm on this Saturday 14/3. You can almost cut the air, it is that thick. I wonder if this 'phenomenon' that occurs annually - and for longer - is not at least as dangerous to health as the Corona virus.
When I got on my bike at half past seven this morning, the position was 185. Just looked at my living area in NL: 22……… Sometimes I really wonder what I'm doing here in these months!

About this wealthy Thai political weathercock:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anutin_Charnvirakul

    https://www.thaipbsworld.com/anutin-charnvirakul-from-low-profile-businessman-to-pm-aspirant/

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-03-11/potential-thai-premier-touts-regulated-marijuana-to-win-votes

Many farmers and youth have voted for his Bhumjaithai party because of the marijuana issue. That has electorally weakened Phuea Thai and FFB. Prayut, is indebted to this man for that very reason alone. He knows, of course, that he "has the hole free" to cash in politically and otherwise. TiT

Staying away from his Rancho Charnvee resort in Khao Yai is a clear reaction that farrang can be given to the man if they do not appreciate his populist stigmatizing talk.

      Indeed Mark,
I wanted to respond to your comment of 13-03 15:32 pm, but you beat me to it.
From his recent statements I deduce that he did not experience his time at Hofstra University New York as pleasant.
I can't imagine that Prayut (and the real powers that run Prayut) are happy with this kind of statement, but he is leader of the Bhumjaithai party with 60(?) seats (51 seats in the election + 9 defectors from the disbanded FFP ). His party is therefore indispensable for the government coalition to maintain the majority in parliament.
I suspect that the "Powers that be" are waiting for an opportune moment to get rid of him without losing the support of his party.

      • Mark says up

With his election promises, mainly about marijuana, this Pied Piper of Hamelin has driven a number of young people so crazy that their mouths are overflowing with Bhumjaithai propaganda.

So is my Thai grandson. He was swept up in misleading propaganda by some local Bhumjaithai figures.

My wife and I paid for his university studies that year. Well studies? He has not taken any exam. Not even his driver's license exam. He bought it illegally from the police. They sell it there for 1500 thb. In serially lying about his studies he got highest honors.

That little guy had a great year then. Now he is in the army. Hopefully he gets some structure instilled there. His father and even grandmother were finally tired of the endless fiddling and the constant problems. They put a lot of pressure on him to enlist.

Thanks to my Thai grandson, I have known the allure of this ministerial ruler and his political vehicle for longer than today.

This man is getting the blood out from under my fingernails. A serious insult. There is work to be done for our ambassador and at EU level. How can someone in that position be so disqualified?

  54. Jacobus says up

One thing is undeniably true what this minister claims. But irrelevant.
"Many farang are shabbily dressed." Beats.

  55. support says up

A few things have become clear to me from all the comments and information about this minister:
    1. The man has no background that specifically makes him suitable to be Minister of Health.
    2. He apparently has laser eyes that allow him to see who is showering and who is not
    3. It is up to his Ministry to immediately quarantine these absolute perverts from the European Corona area upon entry to BKK. And not just babbling about baggy cloths, clothes, etc.
    4. Shabbily dressed is an aspect that he applies selectively. I don't want to say much about the local population, but you can have a discussion about that too.
    5. Saying that in Chiangmai 90% of the population wears a baggy patch is complete nonsense. Even now that slices of the polluted air can be cut here again, that will certainly not happen. And this gentleman does absolutely nothing about air pollution.
    6. Finally. The information about the number of infections (he is responsible for this) has been around 2 for 50 weeks!? If that is true (which I seriously wonder) then corona - given the total Thai population of approximately 67 million - is a negligible problem. So it is completely unclear why this figure is so swearing at farang.
I also think that the problem of the number of infections is many times greater than reported. Why else is there such an emphasis on not celebrating Songkran, among other things.

On to the next swear cannonade.
