An initial group of 498 Thai guest workers who picked wild berries in Finland and Sweden have returned to Thailand and placed in state quarantine, the Ministry of Employment has announced.

Every year, about 5.000 Thai people go to Scandinavian countries in the autumn to pick wild berries for a fee. More than 4.7oo will return in the coming weeks, their contract will expire on October 22.

Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi, they must show evidence of having been tested no later than 72 hours prior to departure. The large number has led to concerns about whether Thailand can handle the current in order to prevent contamination.
