Credit card company VISA says that according to the forecast, Thai people will draw their credit cards less often this year. Consumers are reluctant to make purchases because the country has been in mourning for a year.

Until March next year, as many as 560.000 payment terminals (EDCs) will be installed so that the use of the credit card is stimulated considerably.

Between October and March, credit card use increased 6,7 percent, but that's less than the 7 percent growth recorded in the same period a year earlier, says Suripong Tantiyanon of VISA. In the last three months of 2016 in particular, usage declined as banks and retailers stopped promoting credit cards.

For the full year, Suripong expects growth to be no more than 2 to 3 percentage points above the 6,7 percent of the first half of the 2017 financial year.

The Visa Debit Card is doing well. In the first half of the 2017 budget year, use increased by 13,7 percent.

According to figures from the Bank of Thailand, 70 million credit and debit cards are in use in the country. At least 50 million of these are from VISA.

The title of this psoting does not cover the load, after reading. The Thais use the credit card less because the country is in mourning, but the credit card companies stopped promoting the card in the last three months of last year, probably in honor of the late king. that means the growth in the number of credit cards has leveled off, not their use.

As an entrepreneur in Thailand in the non-falang business, where we as an entrepreneur only deal with the rich Thai
      I can only observe .
The rich thai people with money don't spend it

Credit cards are not only used by the rich. Also in the middle class and even among the relatively poor, there are masses who have a credit card. It is also quite easy to get there as a Thai citizen, especially a few years ago. At that time the income limit was not always strictly enforced and if a wealthy family member was guarantor, you got it in no time.
