THAI Airways International starts selling direct flights from Paris, Frankfurt, London and Copenhagen to Phuket.

Phuket wants to open up to vaccinated tourists in July, according to the so-called Sandbox model, which means without the threshold-raising quarantine obligation.

Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, deputy governor for Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), believes that during the early stages of the Phuket sandbox, not many tourists will choose the island due to travel restrictions , sometimes also imposed by the home country. For example, English tourists returning from Thailand must be quarantined for 10 days.

While vaccinated tourists in Phuket are exempt from quarantine, they won't be thrilled to travel if it means being quarantined upon their return, Siripakorn says. Most of them will probably not travel to Thailand again until everything has returned to normal.

If this means that I can “just” buy a ticket and take the plane again, then I am interested in booking 3 weeks in Phuket. So also without CoE, PCR test etc.

They better start paying back the canceled flights. We have been waiting for our money since September. No more Thai Airways for us for the time being.

If they don't sell tickets then there won't be a refund for the time being. 😉

We have been here since Jan 05. 2020 in Thailand. Our flights have already been canceled 4 times. Last change July 03, 2021 they would restart flights to Brussels. Two days ago they also canceled that flight. When you read here what a mess it is, I would never believe that they have planes ready everywhere there. Brussels is not listed, although the Brussels/BKK/Brussels flights were always complete and certainly a profitable route. I have the impression that they have a lot of debt in Zaventem and are no longer allowed to land? We have now also asked for our money back, which will probably also be a flop?

I had booked with etihad and have not had a refund yet.so it is something everywhere and not just Thai Airways.

With the airline or through a ticket trader? In the latter case, the intermediary may have received a refund for the ticket from the airline, but not passed it on to the customer. This happened, for example, at D-travel, as it became known after the bankruptcy….

Perhaps this is a first (you) step to restore confidence in Thai Airways.
At the moment I still hear a lot of negative sounds as if no one has any confidence in this society anymore. A competitive ticket price might win people over.

    Goodbye,

Geert, I fear that Thai Airways has long since lost the trust of their loyal customers and they do not have the resources to first refund the thousands of tickets and vouchers to the victims when they restart. They have received the green light from the bankruptcy court and their creditors (tens of billions of baht) to restart in a "light version" with 34 aircraft on sale and thousands of fewer employees.
Also, “a competitive ticket price” has NEVER been the trademark of Thai Airways.

Do you still need the CoE?
    And the PCR test?

I have had Zeneca myself 2 times (and then first have to stay in Phuket Province for 1 week?)
Can that travel further? (Because I actually want to go somewhere else in Thailand)

I used to fly from Brussels with a company, I think Jet Air or Airways.
Nice in itself, you go through customs and immigration in Phuket, it's not that busy there, stretch your legs and then to BKK. You arrive there like a domestic flight, pick up your suitcase and you're done.

In Bangkok you get stuck and you have to be quarantined for 14 days, which is definitely not recommended, so pay attention.

Seems very risky to buy a ticket with Thai Airways.
Debt restructuring meetings are constantly being postponed and that is – I think – not good news. The government has also already announced that it does not want a majority of the company's shares again so that Thai would become a government organization again. And the trade unions are also discussing the scheme whereby people have to apply for their own job, with a lower salary.
No, it is a death struggle that may last a long time, but the end is in sight. The cancer has spread everywhere.

Whoo oohh phuket opens July 1st!!!!!
If this means that I can still leave for a while then I want to do it, I am willing to arrange the documents to be away for a while.

    • Chris says up

I wish everyone their holiday, but Phuket is of course no longer Phuket before the pandemic. Hope you realize that before you book.

      • Dylan says up

Yes, I realize that with me it is purely about nature, without people around me nature is still beautiful! And that's what I do it for and besides that people come from all sides, so I expect there will be more people than people expect.

And there are plenty of airlines that fly directly to Phuket than Thai Airways

Personally I would not book as Thai airways still has too many outstanding bills from previous bookings. Englishmen have to be carantine at home for 10 days on their return, even though they have been vaccinated, which means that despite vaccination, it does not rule out that you can get it.

Who wants that whole circus with CoE, insurance statement and the rest of the soesah. I fear for Phuket that they will look ugly on their nose.

    Do I understand correctly ?
I fly to Bangkok in September and have to stay there in an expensive hotel for 10 to 14 days before I get a “safe conduct” (meanwhile no more muscles and up to and including stressed and, as said, lost a lot of money).
I fly to Phuket with Thai Airways, for example, can I do what I want in the hotel of my choice to simply fly to Bangkok or ... after 7 days and arrive there "free Willy"?
Who's going to fly to Bangkok then?
So total freedom and a lot of money saved by simply flying with TA or .. to Phuket to acclimatize there for a week before going to Samui, Chang, Samet, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Chiang Mai ... which is / was the original goal .
I'm in favor of this... you don't need to have done any studies for this.. or is there a catch?.

Thai airways still has debts to pay, to people whose tickets have been canceled with the pandemic, including mine.
And there many are still waiting for a good offer from Thai airways!

    Greetings a victim!

    • Marc says up

      Franz,
Thai Airways can NEVER repay its debts to the victims of canceled flights.

They will already have a very difficult time abbreviating debts and arrears with leasing companies, fuel suppliers, overdue bills of landing fees anywhere in the world, laid off personnel, etc etc etc
Where do you think you will be queuing for compensations anywhere???
      Marc

I will not book a flight with Thai again, as long as there is uncertainty about its continued existence, in addition, I am still waiting for a refund for 3 flights from 2020, Phuket is not a favorite destination for me, I prefer to wait until all this corona hassle is over, and I am free to go wherever I want in Thailand

  13. WIM says up

People waiting for refunds on tickets are unfortunately at the back of the queue, I still hope that I will one day get my money back, but if this is not the case, I am not going to lose sleep over it.
