When the electricity fails, telephone traffic can continue for up to seven days.

AIS, the country's largest operator, has an oil reserve of 2.000 litres, which is then used. DTAC has prepared generators and oil. 67 AIS base stations in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani are down, mainly in industrial areas where electricity has been cut off. At DTAC, 60 stations have failed.

AIS is not concerned about the height of the water during flooding in Bangkok, as all switching stations are on tall buildings. The network capacity in Rangsit and Chaeng Watthana does cause some concern. When a network gets overloaded like in Bang Buea Thong, bandwidth is added.

But if the water rises 30 cm in the houses, the connection is under water. So think that the phone will no longer work!

Fixed telephone traffic, no doubt, but this message concerns the mobile network. Maybe I should have included that. There are more mobile phones in Thailand than residents.
