Suvarnabhumi airport disagrees with its ninth position in the ranking of the world's worst airports by Airhelp.com has been published. All criticism to improve the airport is welcome, but the research must be transparent.

In a statement published on its Facebook page, the airport questions the criteria used to arrive at this score. It is unclear how the website arrives at the results associated with the criteria: performance on time, quality and service and passenger perspective.

In addition, the poor rating seems to be at odds with previous assessments by Skytrax and the Airport Council International (ACI). Passengers' opinions about Suvarnabhumi Airport, in the survey, are also based only on English-language tweets that have been processed by means of their own analysis tool.

I also don't see Suvarnabhumi being so low in the list. Can really find much worse airports.
For me, Suvarnabhumi is well-arranged, usually friendly staff, the luggage is usually quite fast on the belt, little delay and has all the options you need to get from the airport to the city or other parts of Thailand. I've seen that before, at many airports. Even in Europe, where people like to praise themselves that everything is arranged so well.
Deducing passenger opinions from tweets is completely laughable to me. I think Twitter is about the worst complainer you can find. I've looked around there a few times, I haven't been able to discover much positive, so I don't think there will be much different about airports either.
I think that Airhelp can help itself better by sticking to its own expertise and leaving out these kinds of 'researchers'.

Totally agree, Michael. I too can (from my own experience and not from 'hear say' or read on the so-called social media) name so many dozens of airports that are worse than Suvarnabhumi, and only a few that – in my opinion – are better.

I also don't see what this story is good for, for me it's a great airport, everything is neatly arranged and I fly from here at least twice a year, take Schippers and you'll go crazy!

Twenty minutes earlier you read that Suvarnabhumi is one of the best airports in the world and ten minutes later you read something completely different. They just mess around with all the investigations, inspections, surveys and especially the drivel of the experts, which of course we all are. Don't worry, it's about 3 x nothing.

I don't agree, let them take a look at Schiphol, you have to be there at least 4 hours in advance to get through security and hope that it is within 2 hours, otherwise you will miss the plane, in that respect Bangkok is sacred .

look this is absurd!!! I have been in an SUV more than 100 times...friendly, always well-helped, clear and organized...luggage handling, Brussels can learn a lot from that...day and night there are opportunities to consume drinks or food...I have not had one here yet. I had a complaint about it a few times…on the other hand, Brussels !!!!!!!!!!! If I may mention a downside, it is indeed that the sometimes extremely long queues at customs control upon arrival can sometimes last up to 1 to 2 hours... so if something can be done to change that (of course depending on the time of arrival) there is no reason to something bad to say about Bangkok…..long queues for taxis….maybe right, but then you just order your taxi from a known service or person and they will wait for you

Once again, information via the modern media appears to be a strange source to orient yourself on. The masses will be happy with it, I hardly trust what the anti-social media yields in terms of information. Since shortly after the opening of this airport, I have had nothing but excellent experiences. Yes, the distances are sometimes great, mainly covered on treadmills by the way. But what do you want with such a busy airport. And the combination between international and national? The signage is always clear to me and I sometimes have trouble with that elsewhere. even the passport control and customs people, despite their uniform, are usually formal but friendly. There is something for every budget in terms of food. The toilets work and are clean. The people are friendly and accessible. Just last week I asked a cleaning lady, mop in hand, and was helped very friendly in poor English. The layout of the whole is clear to me. Effortlessly and without hassle, with friendly service, I found a great taxi that took me to my hotel on the meter. And I've been to many airports where all of this was a distant dream.

9th place on the list of worst airports?…..I don't get it.

Pretty ridiculous research. I flew a lot. In addition, for me, most airports in SE and East Asia are quite at the top.
In Eyropa bad airports I find Heathrow/ Charles de Gaule/Frankfurt./Rome.
In the US, almost all airports can top the list of bad airports, especially Kenedy Airport. South America Rio de Janaro. enx on

BKK is not too bad, except for the often very long wait at Immigrations. This is emotionally the biggest problem: when you leave the plane, you are afraid of long queues.

I experienced once that an arrow was missing. When I retraced my steps, it turned out that a sign was missing on the side I came from.

Taxi and Bus references could be better.

Big disadvantage is that you have to change airports if you need a domestic flight.

And as for the criticism above of Brussels in terms of baggage. This is the only airport where I have frequently experienced that my luggage is on the carousel when I arrive. Things have been a bit less smooth in the last two years. But on average still the shortest waiting time.

    • Cornelis says up

Stefaan, the 'major disadvantage' you mention above is completely misplaced. Many domestic flights also depart from Suvarnabhumi.

agreement regarding immigration... see my negative BKK SUV... regarding luggage in Brussels... sorry for the many strikes... I bet that when I arrive in Zaventem 100 times I will certainly experience the same feeling as in Bangkok regarding immigration discomfort fear...as far as domestic flights are concerned...you certainly don't have to go to Don Muang...there are plenty of domestic flights from SUV!!!! and you would struggle for 500 baht more if you had to pay 100 baht more for a taxi

Suvarnabhumi is fine. You should take a look in Moscow or that small airport in the United Arab Emirates.
Also the comment that you can't take a domestic flight is only partly true.
I flew from Suvarnabhumi to Chiang Mai with Thai Airways. So it is possible.

Suvarnabhumi is certainly not a bad airport. Yes, there are better ones, but many more worse ones.

But studies are just studies. Kuala Lumpur gets 4 stars on Skytrax and Joost knows why; defective lighting, broken chair backs and seats are the order of the day. So say it. If you write something negative at Skytrax, it will not be posted. So they are not objective.

Only point I think is bad is that when you go through customs and you get picked up, by a taxi from a hotel, there are several pick up points, when you first get there it can be frustrating because once you you have walked to the meeting point, you will not return to the first collection point, at passage 8, they will no longer allow you there.
