Yesterday it was a big hit in Pattaya, for two hours it came with buckets from heaven. A normal phenomenon in the summer, says Royol Chitradon, the director of the Hydro Agro and Informatics Institute.

The rains that fell over the weekend in northern and central Thailand are part of summer and are not signs of extreme weather conditions or changes in the weather.

The downpours are caused by a high pressure area from China, which is now above Thailand. It caused heavy rain in Pattaya where some areas were flooded (see photo). Also, a sharp drop in temperature, rainfall and cloudy skies were reported in the northeast, north and central Thailand in the past two days.

The high pressure area is weakening on Wednesday, and after that it will be warm again in all parts of Thailand as usual in the summer, Royol predicts. Until today, the weather can remain turbulent with thunderstorms, rain and gusts of wind. The temperature also drops considerably.

During the week the weather clears up. Temperatures will rise, with warm to very warm weather expected for the rest of the week.

A godsend? With buckets from heaven. Save what for the drought times I would say. Should have happened already in the rainy season. Water management is not the best in Thailand. It is as usual, we see.
