The third phase of the state assistance program for senior citizens has got off to a slow start. The elderly say that the program is too complicated for their age group, for example, one must register for the program with a smartphone.

This part of the assistance is intended for three million people, 500.000 of whom are senior citizens. They receive discounts at stores across the country and their own province, if the companies participate in the program. Individuals who have already registered will no longer be eligible for the 1.000 baht previously provided. This would be the reason why there is not much interest in the third phase.

A 72-year-old resident of Nakhon Ratchasima says that the government should not come up with something simpler. Her son says that without the 1.000 baht incentive, people would not be incentivized to sign up. He also found it very difficult to register.

The state aid program is indeed far too complicated for many elderly people. I mentioned that in an earlier edition of this blog. I wondered how they could come up with such a thing.

State aid for the elderly, but you must have enough money for a smartphone, otherwise you are not eligible.

Many (poor) elderly people live in villages and do not go anywhere outside the village.
The shops in the small villages will probably not participate in that action.

The government does not even have money for these programs or the Krungthai Bank, 1 of the 3 banks that the large majority use for the program, has financial problems: at the start of the 1st round it was mentioned that entrepreneurs would already have day the money that the users spent would be refunded, however, many entrepreneurs have been waiting for their money for a month and a half. The result is that many entrepreneurs have a lot of money outstanding and have to wait until they get the money back. And therefore have already dropped out during the 1st round and do not participate in the 1nd and 2rd round because they are unreliable.
