Danish family-owned company Pandora, the world's third-largest manufacturer of handmade jewelry, is to lay off 1.200 employees in Thailand. Earlier, 700 Thai people were fired.

The company employs approximately 14.000 people in Thailand, mainly in northern Thailand where jewelry is made. The wave of layoffs is due to disappointing sales results and profit warnings.

The 1.200 job cuts follow an earlier wave of 700 layoffs in February and follow a plan to reduce costs.

Pandora is known for its self-assembled bracelets. Her range also consists of rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants and watches. The company is active in more than 100 countries with more than 8.100 points of sale and 21.500 employees. The head office is located in Copenhagen.
