A shooting on the beach of Chaweng Beach, in front of hundreds of tourists, left one person dead (26) and injured. The violence stems from a quarrel between two families who rent out jet skis.

Yesterday at the end of the afternoon there was a gunfight on the beach in which the members of the two families fired on each other. The tourists present fled in panic in all directions to seek protection from the flying bullets.

Thailand blog reader Ton witnessed the incident and also took the above photo: “Chaweng Beach shooting – between 2 rival bosses of 2 jet ski rental companies, one dead and one injured! Not really fun to experience.”

Also on Koh Samui there have been problems with jet ski rental companies on the beach in recent years. Tourists fell victim to a scam because they had to pay alleged damage to the vessel. For some time now, there have been fewer problems due to stricter supervision by the military. Nevertheless, the competition is fierce.

The quarrel between the two families on Koh Samui has been dormant for years, but the fact that people are attacking each other with heavy firearms also shocks the community on Koh Samui.

Let me fear that this incident and all the problems surrounding the jet ski rental can cause more damage to tourism than the comments of a gentleman from Ghana, which I also strongly disapprove of, no misunderstanding about that.

That was coming. Mafia kills Mafia. There are several stories about this scam about alleged damage to jet skis. And yes, several mafias were involved in this scam. Tourists have even been threatened with a firearm if they did not want to pay for the damage. Do I regret the death of any of these mafia members? Absolutely not. I am glad that there were no innocent victims during the shooting.

Withdrawing licenses and clearing up that trade, no accidents happen and no unsuspecting tourists are kicked out in connection with possible damage to the jet ski nice job for the military I would say, this kind of practice has long been a thorn in the the eye there.

On Samui, the old Samui families rule the roost. With or without violence.
They own the land and they own the money.
I have never seen soldiers here, except when someone from the royal family is on the island.

    Call it mafia.
