The deputy honorary consul for the Russian Federation, Santi Udomkiratak, was killed in a traffic accident in Phuket on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
The black Mercedes-Benz E250 rammed into a truck that had stopped at a red traffic light. The incident took place at the three-way intersection at Dao Rung Tad Mai in tambon Wichit.
The victim's car was badly damaged, the police and rescuers had to break open the wreckage to recover the lifeless body.
Mr. Santi has served as Deputy Honorary Consul for Phuket, Krabi and Phangnga Province since 2008.
