The scandal surrounding the prostitution network with underage girls in Mae Hong Son continues to spread. In addition to the police officer and two women arrested in Mae Hong Son, the police have more suspects in mind. It involves three or four police officers and female pimps. Governor Suebsak Iamwicharn is also involved in the network, says Deputy Chief Constable Srivara of the Royal Thai Police.
According to Srivara, there is sufficient evidence of the governor's involvement, but he cannot give details because of the investigation. The mother of a child victim who was forced into prostitution by the gang says Suebsek was a client of the gang. He himself denies that.
Suebsak has not yet been arrested because a disciplinary investigation has been launched into him led by the Ministry of the Interior. In the first panel questioning, he was questioned for four hours. After the interrogation, Suebsak said he was innocent, but refused to speak to the media. The investigation is expected to take a month.
The police officer, who is suspected of inducing girls into prostitution, and two female pimps have now been arrested. Three other officers are also suspected, but according to Srivara there is not enough evidence to request arrest warrants. According to the investigative panel, the police officers were clients of the girls.
The investigation now focuses on the mother's claim that her daughter was forced to use drugs and was the victim of a gang rape. The mother has also asked the DSI for witness protection. She says she was approached by an influential figure. The lawyer says that this figure wants to meet her at a certain place, she is now worried about her safety.

Voluntary prostitution in Thailand when you are of age is a personal choice and generally accepted phenomenon in Thailand, although prohibited by law. I have no problem with that and neither do the Thai police and government.
Forced prostitution in which minors are the victims is a completely different matter for me.
The recruiters of these girls and employees can face long sentences from me.
