The 34th ASEAN Summit Meeting has taken place in Thailand. From August 08, the meetings will take place in the new ASEAN Secretariat building in Jakarta, Indonesia.

One of the points discussed is the Treaty of Amity and Southeast Asia Cooperation (TAC) as a code of conduct, on relations between the countries. An economic partnership (RCEP) has also been discussed to deal with changes and uncertainties in the region, especially in the area of trade tensions with major trading partners. Think of the trade war between America and China, which also affects Japan and Thailand.

Four ASEAN countries, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam, will participate in the G20 summit to discuss the issues of the ongoing trade war. ASEAN would like to see the situation resolved quickly.

He gave the following advice to his “people” on occasion. Everyone should study the works of Sunthorn Phu, not only Prathom level students but all people. Use the lessons of his plays and other literature in everyday life! The Prime Minister noted that Thailand should be proud of its language and literature which are considered as national treasures under the three main pillars: the country, religion and the monarchy.

In the end, the question remains whether Prayut himself came to this and whether it would be wise for him to learn another language. Even his public speech at the ASEAN Congress left something to be desired, according to insiders.

    Wise words from Prayuth.
Or better translated back to the time of the horse tram and stagecoach.

    Jan Beute.

I told my “daughter” in Chiang Mai what Prayut said was good for her. Work and a decent wage is more popular for her than the works of Sunthorn Phu.
Tonight she has a job that brings in Thb 300. The first job in two weeks.
With all due respect, what retarded advice from Prayut. The owner of a coffee shop sells 2 cups of coffee a day. One restaurant after another is closing. And to make up for the lack of, or rather, the absence of, an income, his people must read the works of Sunthorn Phu.

My family is still reading Animal Farm 🙂
Then we will start on the next one.

Maybe a tip for the PM, next time add an ISBN, it's easier to order.
