Those who still want to travel to Pattaya should be quick because the seaside resort will be partially locked from Thursday afternoon to prevent further spread of Covid-19.

The province's governor, Pakkhathorn Thianchai, today approved Pattaya City's proposal to close down the municipality on Thursday.

Pattaya has 30 registered infections, which is the highest number in Chon Buri province and therefore wants to tighten the measures. Five checkpoints will be set up on the access roads to Pattaya. There, traffic is stopped and screened. Persons who do not live or work in Pattaya will not be allowed to continue until the situation returns to normal.

The checkpoints will be at Krating Rai flyover, Soi Chaiyapornvithee, Highway 2 in front of the police station, Soi Pornprapanimit, Soi Chayaporn and Sukhumvit Road.

Traveling out of Pattaya does not seem to be a problem for the time being if you can demonstrate the purpose of your trip, for example because you want to travel to Suvarnabhumi to fly back to the Netherlands or Belgium. Other people who want to travel must first go to the municipality (district offices) to request permission.

'I hear from you'?? Just kidding, this question? Or do you really think that someone has a crystal ball and can see what the situation will be in four and a half months?

Apart from a fortune teller, few people will have a conclusive answer to that, I think.

Do nothing. Just wait. If the trip is cancelled, you will receive a refund. If you do it yourself now you will lose your money.

Piet Heijblom, just look into your crystal ball, he can tell you exactly what it will look like in 5 months.

      regards Leen

Would say download the travel app from Foreign Affairs and follow the news that comes out.

    Difficult to advise you.
August is still a while away. We don't have a crystal ball. Everything is possible.
Take the travel advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs into account when making your considerations.
Nevertheless, I would already contact your travel organization: discuss the situation + possibilities.
Possible cancellation and money back (no voucher). Book again when everything is normalized.
If you have taken out travel/cancellation insurance at the same time as booking the trip, then that seems to me to be very comfortable.
Good luck and hope??? Have a nice trip in Thailand soon

This news about closing and naming the check-points reminded me when I wanted to import alcohol-free beer into Thailand when I read in the Bangkok Post that Thailand was going to control and penalize alcohol use in traffic. It was then also stated where the checkpoints would be located. Naturally, shortcuts were sought so that people could avoid the controls in an arc. a friend of mine who lives in Pattaya posted pictures on his Facebook that he took while visiting the Immigration Department in Pattaya. It is outrageous how all the foreigners are made to wait in long lines and without distance in the heat, if it were Thai, there would be tents or shade created and lines chalked with signs with rules… I think in Pattaya there are still much can be improved preventively before it is closed to foreigners. I don't see any Chinese or other tourists in Ban Phe who come to visit Koh Samed, it is a national park and therefore closed. I myself live surrounded by national parks that are all closed so hotels and resorts don't have guests either. The beach may also not be entered. It feels good here south of Rayong.

Pattaya is not closed to foreigners. Only residents of the city are allowed in.
So people from other parts of Thailand are also not allowed in.
