CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin has confirmed what we reported on Thailandblog yesterday. The announcement was made after the latest meeting of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), chaired by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha.

An overview of the measures:

  • Three provinces will be added to the sandbox program that currently only applies to Phuket. It concerns three islands in the province of Surat Thani - Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao -, as well as the entire provinces of Krabi and Phang-Nga. The sandbox program allows tourists to travel freely in a particular province or island without having to go into quarantine, but they must remain in that area for seven days before being allowed to travel to other areas in Thailand.
  • Nightlife bans are enforced in 69 provinces.
  • The Test & Go one-quarantine-night-only program will be reconsidered at a new meeting on January 15, 2022. Taweesilp also assured that tourists with pre-approved Thailand Passes will be allowed to enter the Kingdom until further notice.
  • The CCSA keeps the status of the eight provinces approved for tourism promotion unchanged, meaning that eateries in these provinces are allowed to serve alcoholic beverages until 21.00 p.m. The eight provinces are: Bangkok, Chon Buri, Kanchanaburi, Krabi, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phang-Nga and Phuket.

Other news about the Alternative Quarantine plan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that visitors departing from African countries will be able to register for the Thailand Pass to enter Thailand under the Sandbox scheme from January 11, 202.

The quarantine period under the Alternative Quarantine Plan (AQ) will be shortened from 14 days to 7 days for vaccinated people and 10 days for unvaccinated people.

Travelers who already have a Thailand Pass for and wish to transfer to another scheme will need to re-register for a Thailand Pass.

Finally, after living in uncertainty for more than 2 weeks, there is clarity about whether or not we can travel to Thailand for all those who applied for Test & Go before December 22, 2021, We leave for Thailand next Monday, both we and the family in Thailand are very happy that we can see each other again since August 2019. I wish everyone who is leaving soon or later for a family visit and / or holiday a pleasant stay. Also many thanks to the editors of this blog who update us daily for this, my compliments for this.

    That sure is nice,
We leave on the 16th with KLM, but that was exciting again today because my wife had read on Facebook that this flight had been cancelled, we had not received any notification at all.
So just take a look at the KLM site and sure enough it was, so what now?

Then try to get in touch with KLM, really impossible, they refer that you can adjust your trip yourself, but that didn't work either.
Trying for hours now, but then just asked if I wanted to buy a ticket by phone, even then I was on hold for 20 minutes, but at least I could talk to someone.

This lady also did not understand that I had not received a message, or whether I had also looked in my spam, yes madam, I am not a very illiterate person, by the way, I had already received an email that our return flight had changed to a different number and 25 minutes later .
Well she was able to overbook us on a flight also on the 16th with a different number and 20 minutes later than the scheduled flight.

I really don't understand why they don't make a reference about this on the site.
It is actually very sad that KLM is so difficult to reach and that it treats customers so carelessly.
I hope EVA will fly again soon because they really offer a much better service.

      Dear Rob,

It is best to put the KLM app on your phone or tablet, then you will be immediately informed of a flight change and you will also see this immediately reflected in the app. Our flight, both outward and return, was also changed because KLM canceled flights at lack of travelers and dividing them include flight numbers.

Same story here for my KLM flight on the 17th. By chance I found out on the KLM website that my flight had unfortunately been “disrupted”. I really had no idea what that meant, but it was simply canceled and you were rebooked to another flight with different times. Keep a close eye on the flights because it changes a lot these days. Indeed tried to call KLM but that is impossible now. After waiting 45 minutes I gave up.

Arrived in BKK this afternoon according to the test&go program. Can't say anything else, it's all well organized. Actually went through in a hurry. In the meantime, I also had some time to pin and buy SIM cards. Now in our hotel. Tomorrow morning we will get the PCR results.
