The local newspaper Pattaya Daily News reports that a Dutchman has been arrested who used a stolen visa.

Mukdahan immigration officials also said that more arrests will follow now that they are on the trail of the visa gang. Some members of the gang have already been arrested.

Tracing the previously stolen and forged visas is quite easy as the visa stickers are numbered. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already declared 500 visa stickers invalid. It concerns the stolen stickers with number 8486001 to 848650.

The Dutchman Jasper Rense C. turned out to be in Thailand with a forged visa. He had reported to the Mukdahan immigration office with his passport to get his visa stamped. The man had a NON-O visa that was valid from June 18 and expired on September 15, 2013.

After investigation, it turned out that the tourist visa of the Dutchman with number 8486146 had been issued in the province of Savannakhet in Laos. The visa has since been declared invalid. The origin of the visa was also easy to trace because the Consulate General of Savannakhet Province (Laos) issues visas starting with the letter 'A'.

The Dutchman has been arrested for illegal residence in Thailand.

I think the above text is incorrect.

My just received visa issued in The Hague also starts with a letter “A”

Furthermore, number 8486001 consists of 7 digits and 848650 consists of 6 digits.

The number ring from 7 to 6 digits is a typing error, everyone sees that the three final digits must be 500.

Most visas are illegal in thailand I was able to buy an annual visa from a police officer in Had yai 30000bht, it's just money making, and part of the corrupt practices of the government.
It is even worse than in NL and that is saying something….

      I enjoy reading your response.
Usually I'm in the vast majority, but it's nice to be in the minority this time.
I have a legal visa, obtained at the prescribed price.

Gee, I already have a legal visa!
        That's already two.
        What could be wrong….
Will you see that there are more………..

Would you like to see this 'statement' substantiated, how do you come to the conclusion that most visas are illegal? Do you have more 'evidence' for that than the offer that claims to have received? And then that sneer at corruption in NL, pffffffff………….

Of that 30000 bht seems illogical to me for 8000 bht you can multiply 4x a year. And how do you get to Thailand without a visa only illegally and that of the police also seems like a booby trap
if you go into it you will not get a visa but you will be handcuffed for 'bribery'

I can imagine, when a passport in Thailand is given to a visa runner, you no longer have control over who puts the visa in the passport.

I can only respond to this article now because I had trouble with my renewal last Monday. This was the first time in 6 years. I had to come back at 2 in the afternoon, with some report, police or something. My treating doctor then gave me a certificate and within half an hour I had my extension for 3 months.
That will change when I marry my Thai girlfriend.
