City Airways, Kan Air, Asian Air and Jet Asia Airways are highly indebted and that could well be their downfall. Thailand's aviation watchdog, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), is considering revoking their flying license.

City Airways in particular has significant debt. The company also has a liquidity problem. Kan Airlines, which also flies from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin, also has a debt of 27 million baht and 10,21 million baht in outstanding accounts with Aerothai and 1,11 million baht with Airports of Thailand, the manager of the Suvarnabhumi airports. and Don Muang.

Asian Air owes 22,07 million baht at Narita Airport in Japan. Her assets were seized last month and the airline ceased its flights on February 4, 2016.

Jet Asia Airways has a loss of 525,18 million baht Aearothai and Narita Airport will receive 49,46 and 16,23 million baht from the airline.

In the past, the aviation authority did not really look at the financial status of airlines, but at the insistence of transport minister Arkhom, it is now doing so. Companies with debts greater than their equity are particularly closely monitored.

All airlines must submit a balanced financial budget before the end of the month. The strict approach is necessary because airlines with financial problems may cut back on maintenance and safety. The Thai government now wants to make a clean sweep in aviation given the previous red card from the ICAO.

A few weeks ago Kan Air would have flown the Hua Hin – Chiang Mai – Hua Hin route

Received a text message from Kan Air in Thai a few hours before departure...!!! After a phone call with “reservations” it was finally made clear to me in very poor English that this was a delay of +/- 1.5 hours, schedule departure time 19:30 PM. When checking in, I noticed that the “ground staff” spoke little or no English, they could pronounce the word “luggage”, and that is apparently sufficient for this position.
At around 21:00 PM there was some announcement, and after much effort it became clear to me (via a fellow Thai passenger) that there was an additional delay of 1.5 hours.

Reason: fog in Chiang Mai..., I called the person I was going to visit there, it was there on that day.
    moment clear, maybe local fog…???

All this gave me no confidence in KAN AIR anymore and I canceled this flight to
Chiang Mai, fly via BKK at another time.

Yes, they are doing well reading this. Possibly with the thoughts that when it's your time then... you know. Then you can also save some money on maintenance. It just depends on how you view the world. Then just use the bike for the time being, it's much safer!!!! and you see more along the way. It is a country you have to love and we quietly continue with the order of the day. We read it again on the news, never a dull moment.
