Human rights lawyer and former senator Warin Thiamjaras thinks Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhaya, who killed a motorcycle cop last year, plans to run if he is released on bail after his arrest.

"He doesn't care if the bail is confiscated, even if it costs him 20 million baht, because that amount is nothing for someone as rich as he is." Warin wouldn't be surprised if Vorayuth goes into hiding and waits for the 15-year statute of limitations to expire. [Earlier, the newspaper wrote 10 years.] "After that, he can return to Thailand as a free man."

The lawyer calls the case 'an act of systematic double standards'. "An ordinary suspect would have been charged long ago." Vorayuth failed to show up to the OM six times, the last time the day before yesterday, he is now in Singapore and an arrest warrant is being prepared against him. The lawyer believes that the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Ombudsman should investigate all those involved in the case.

Vorayuth can no longer be prosecuted for speeding violations because the statute of limitations for that expired yesterday. But the chief prosecutor thinks this will not affect the remaining two charges: wrongful death for reckless driving and failure to assist the victim. The OM will still bring in the high speed.

The OM says the case is continuing despite the fact that Vorayuth has paid the relatives of the agent 3 million baht and has taken care of the cremation costs. The Chief Prosecutor thinks Vorayuth will return soon. The fact that he stayed away this time, he says, may have to do with the fact that he needed more time to mentally prepare for the court. When the arrest warrant is issued, the police can extradite Vorayuth to Thailand, the chief prosecutor said.

Vorayuth's lawyer says his client in Singapore caught the flu and was unable to come. A doctor's statement supports that explanation.

Watch out Dick, posting those negative messages about Thailand.
I just read in a previous post that this is not appreciated by many.
You must accept the country as it is with all manners and customs.
Criticism of criminal behavior is not appropriate 🙂

    Dear Lou,
You should know how many Thais detest this kind of behavior from rich people who think the law doesn't apply to them.
The man was an embarrassment to his family, his family is now an embarrassment to Thailand and if it continues, Thailand will be an embarrassment to the international community.
