On New Year's Day it was announced that Dutchman Wesley Berkhout (32) had been found dead in his hotel room in Thailand.

Wesley was a well-known amateur football player and played for SCO '63, Hekelingen, SVV, Feyenoord, Sparta, Excelsior, Spijkenisse, Monza, SC Heerenveen, Sparta, SC Feyenoord, PFC, OVV and ADO Den Haag. The Spijkenisser had left for Thailand in November to try to get a professional contract there.

According to a family friend, the cause of death is not yet known and an autopsy must take place first. There is also a financial problem because the man had not taken out travel insurance. The costs of repatriating the remains will cost thousands of euros.

sorry for your loss. the best (and maybe the cheapest) is to cremate him in Thailand and take the ashes to Holland.

Yes this is the cheap one, but his relatives might want to say goodbye physically?

Paco, I totally agree with you! That is also my wish, should I die here. My daughter would like to scatter me in the North Sea!

    Sad, very sad.
My condolences to the bereaved family.
Last year there was a Dutchman here who also had no travel insurance and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage
you don't want to know what a hassle this gave extra in that already nasty condition, again lots of strength.

First of all, my condolences for why
so many people forget travel insurance?
