The ambassador of Israel in Thailand says the bombs found in the house at 31 Soi Pridi Banomyong (a side street of Sukhumvit Soi 71) are identical to the explosives used in the other two countries. He assumes that the embassy in Thailand or employees would have been the target.

– The Iranians arrested after a number of explosions in the Thai capital Bangkok were planning to blow up Israeli diplomats there. That is what the head of the Thai police, General Prewpan Dhamapong, said in a Thai television program.

– Iran and Israel accuse each other of involvement in the explosions in Bangkok as well as attacks on Israeli diplomats in India and Georgia. Israeli Foreign Minister Ehud Barak says Tehran attempted to carry out a terrorist attack on Thai soil. An Iranian spokesman rejects Israel's accusations, accusing the country of trying to harm the friendly and historic ties between Iran and Thailand.

– The Thai authorities play down the possible connection with terrorism supported by countries. The Secretary General of the National Security Council says it appears the explosives were intended for use against individuals, not against institutions or groups of people. "It's not an act of terrorism."

– The police have requested arrest warrants against the three arrested Iranians and an Iranian woman who has rented the house in Pridi 31.

One Iranian was detained at Sukhumvit 71. He is admitted to Chulalongkorn Hospital and unconscious. The man was seriously injured in the legs, stomach and right eye when a package of explosives that he had thrown at police exploded, but ricocheted off a pickup truck. A second suspect was detained at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday night and a third in Malaysia on Wednesday.

– The municipality of Bangkok will accelerate the installation of 10.000 surveillance cameras. There are already 15.000 in the city. Shopping centers have increased their security measures. The Mall Group (Siam Paragon and Emporium) has deployed 200 additional civilian security guards. The police use dogs to check for the presence of explosives.

– Ten foreign embassies, including the Dutch one, have warned their compatriots to be careful, especially in public places. Yesterday, Sihasak Phuangketkaew, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, briefed 45 foreign diplomats on the developments.

– The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) acknowledges that the explosions have had a psychological effect on tourists, but so far they have not affected room reservations. The Tourism Council of Thailand believes that the police must quickly provide evidence that the attack is not related to terrorism, so that tourists can be reassured.

– Eight houses near the house in Pridi 31 have suffered damage. Three residents have since filed a report with the Klong Tan police so that they can claim the damage from their insurance.

– The C4 explosives found in the house in Pridi 31 are commonly used in rock blasting and can be bought freely in Thailand. They don't need a complicated detonator to detonate.

That's handy if you want to do this kind of thing, you don't have to mess with chemicals.

Just read it on the bkk post so must be correct.

I doubt whether C 4 (sister of Semtex) is freely available.
Among other things, Wikipedia reports this about C 4: A major advantage of C4 is that it can easily be molded into any desired shape. C4 can be pressed into gaps, cracks, holes and voids in buildings, bridges, equipment or machinery. Similarly, it can easily be inserted into empty shaped charge cases of the type used by military engineers.

C4 is very stable and insensitive to most physical shocks. C4 cannot be detonated by a gunshot or by dropping it onto a hard surface. It does not explode when set on fire or exposed to microwave radiation. Detonation can only be initiated by a combination of extreme heat and a shockwave, such as when a detonator inserted into it is fired.

        Dear Hans,
Everything is available in Thailand with a bag of money, weapons, ammunition, medicines, etc.
Have a house built with illegal wood, bag of money OK
In Belgium (I won't digress) everything is already different than in the Netherlands. Easier..
And here no one is averse to anything.
Incidentally, I do notice that many Thais are frightened when a “Kek Kauw” arrives. So someone from Iraq, Iran, etc. I happened to experience yesterday.

Came through customs at suvarnabhumi today and there were quite a few queues there. Took at least 2-3 hours to get in, what a misery! There was also a lot of filming there were high police chiefs with mouth cloth and already present.
