King Power, owner of a chain of duty-free shops at airports in Thailand, has bought Thailand's tallest skyscraper for 14 billion baht.

The iconic MahaNakhon skyscraper in Bangkok was designed by renowned German architect Ole Scheeren. For many years, Scheeren was a business partner of the also world-famous Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas (OMA).

The MahaNakhon Tower has 77 floors and is 314 meters high. Ten meters higher than the Baiyoke II tower. Opened in December 2016, the complex includes a Ritz-Carlton hotel, commercial and office spaces, and 200 luxury Ritz-Carlton Residences apartments.

King Power is also going to change the name of the skyscraper. And you guessed it, this one will be called King Power.

I understood that only part of the tower is covered by the agreement with Pace development.
