Christmas-decorated elephants distributed gifts and sweets to students at Jirasartwitthaya School in Ayutthaya province.

The Christmas celebration at Jirasartwitthaya School in Ayutthaya, north of Bangkok, has been going on for 15 years. This year, four elephants and their mahouts, wearing Santa hats, visited the school and gave gifts to the students.

The elephant is the national symbol of Thailand and features extensively in history and literature. Thailand is 98% Buddhist, but also celebrates Christmas as part of the holiday at the end of the year.
