Luxury cars stolen from England smuggled to Thailand
The Thai Federal Police (DSI) has discovered ten of the 42 mostly exclusive cars stolen in England and smuggled into Thailand. They have been discovered in car showrooms.
The DSI had already discovered the ten by comparing the engine numbers with the import documents, even before contacting the British National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service about the thefts.
The owners of the stolen cars may keep them from the DSI provided they promise to immediately hand over the cars to investigators when the investigation requires it.
It remains strange why customs initially approved the import of the expensive cars while the purchase price was very low. According to Director-General Kulit, his officials were not aware of the true value (!?!). Customs only became suspicious when they started checking the prices.

Who is going to steal such striking cars in England, to sell them for next to nothing (the purchase price was very low), to export them with all the risks that entails and to re-import them into Thailand, without adjust the numbers.
I mean, there are also very nice cars driving around in Kuala Lumpur and if you know some people at the customs in the south, that is all much more practical, isn't it?
Amsterdam French,
The prices for those cars are much higher in Thailand than in the west, they yield more than a trifle.
The purchase price (ON PAPER) is kept as low as possible to reduce import costs and will be cheaper than in Malaysia (especially if they are stolen)
People involved in this trade do not have to go south, they will have connections at the major ports.
The annoying thing for these people is that they are now being monitored by the junta, and that is quite easy because those cars must be registered, also in the south.
