At least 10 southern provinces are experiencing heavy rainfall and flooding. Since Thursday, there have been eleven fatalities, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said.

Yesterday, two people died in Surat Thani because they were swept away in a stream of water.

A total of 360.000 people in eleven provinces were affected. Eighty percent of the South is under water. A bridge has collapsed in Nakhon Si Thammarat, cutting off residents of Sichon district from the outside world.

Although the heavy rain in Surat Thani has started to ease, other provinces are still experiencing heavy rainfall.

According to Prime Minister Prayut, emergency services must cooperate more closely. The government services are busy pumping water out of residential areas.

Residents should also be aware of mudslides and landslides.

In my opinion, mister Prayut, the head of a government that is failing, should have long since promoted (according to this same episode of the Thailand blog) that the emergency services are (trained and therefore able) to cooperate more. The storm may literally blow in and fall from the sky, but not more figuratively at all, because it hits almost every season.

    Nice… I leave for Krabi in 2 days…
    I was thinking… don't go north. Might be too cold… 😀
