On 10 July 2019, His Majesty King Maha Vachiralongkon issued a Royal Command to appoint a 36-member cabinet with Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha as Prime Minister and Defense Minister. The king swore in all cabinet members on Tuesday 16 July.

On the website of The Nation, a number of new cabinet members are presented to readers with a photo and profile sketch. These (deputy) ministers are mainly on the economic side, the others will undoubtedly have their turn.

I have read all the profiles, but I am not in a position to make any political comments. Thailandblog has its own specialists for that. I will not remember the names of these ministers either. I used to be able to name all ministers of the Netherlands by name and ministry, but I really can't get those difficult and long Thai names in my head.

Let's face it, the names Mark Rutte, Sigrid Kaag, Stef Blok, are easier to hear than, for example, Somkid Jatusripitak or Weerasak Wongsuphak.

And this government dares to call itself democratic. 555 There are several people with questionable backgrounds in the cabinet, some NCPO members have remained as cabinet members, as we know, the elections have not exactly been the epitome of democracy, the constitution is not really democratic, the Senate, the 'independent' bodies such as the Electoral Council and Con. The court is not. A large number of special junta diktats remain in place, such as people who are a 'danger to national security' can be locked up for 7 days without an arrest warrant or charge, without access to a lawyer or anything else.

Poor Thai citizen who got this monstrosity shoved down his throat.

Overview of the cabinet, what do those soldiers (not affiliated with a political party) do in the cabinet?

This story includes a photo of sitting ministers. In another image, I saw all the ministers lying on the floor, some of the elderly very uncomfortable. Does anyone know why?

    • That's a new Thai game. The one who can flatten themselves the most is the winner.

Out of respect for the King, people lie flat on the floor when they are introduced. In the Roman Catholic Church, the same is done with bishops who have been appointed.

I don't think it has anything to do with respect at all.
Rather with (misuse of) power and all the excesses that go with it.

No human being but no human being has to crawl in front of the other human being bend kneel or whatever a hand is enough or a nod to show courtesy we are all created the same on this globe only man himself makes ranks and positions to suppress the other or think that he is more or higher through possessions or his states in society, at least that's what I think a real atheist who does not adhere to any religion.

Ranks and positions made by man? Yes. I will.

Who would have made them in the animal world? 😉
