13 killed in floods in southern Thailand
In the eight southern provinces, 13 people have been killed so far due to the flooding after heavy rainfall. This number will continue to increase. There are several missing.
According to Thai authorities, 4.014 villages have been affected in 81 districts of eight provinces:
- Nakhon Si Thammarat
- Phatthalung
- Surat Thani
- Page
- Chumphon
- Songkhla
- Krabi
- Phangnga
A total of 239.160 families have been affected, which amounts to 842.324 people.
Mudslides
Another danger is the huge mudslides that destroy entire villages. Thai residents will be evacuated due to these mudslides. The Thai army will also be deployed to help villagers

Tourists Koh Tao
The Thai navy has evacuated a total of 618 tourists, both Thai and foreigners, from the island of Koh Tao. Everyone has arrived safely at the naval base in Chon Buri near Sattahip. With 18 buses, the stranded tourists were taken to Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi airport, Pattaya and Chumphon. All tourists are in good health.
Koh Samui
Thai Airways International (THAI) has resumed flights to Samui after the airport reopened. Three more flights will be deployed to collect the last 600 passengers stranded by the flooding on Koh Samui. The airport will be cleaned and thus fully operational again.
