Animal protectors have been saying it for quite some time: There is a lot wrong with the tiger temple. A discovery of 40 dead tiger cubs in a chest freezer will only confirm that picture. They appear to have been killed recently.

The Thai government is this week moving 137 tigers from the Wat Pa Luangta Maha Bua in Kanchanaburi, as the name of the controversial temple is. The temple is suspected of illegal wildlife trade and animal abuse.

It is unclear why the Tiger Temple kept the dead cubs. The remains of a lion, six hornbills, the carcass of a Binturong (bear cat), a squirrel, five antlers, and animal organs in jars have also been found. The DNP had been tipped off about the freezer by a temple employee. DNA was taken from the dead cubs to determine whether they are descendants of the tigers that were kept in the temple.

The temple faces prosecution for illegal possession of wild animals and animal carcasses. According to an agreement between the Thai police and the temple, newly born tigers and deceased animals must be reported, but this has not happened, says the director of the Wildlife Conservation Office of the DNP.

Animal protection organizations suspect that the Tiger Temple traded in tiger organs. There is a lot of money to be made because they are rare and are used in Chinese medicines and herbs.

In a word terrible. Humans should not be walking with tigers. Went there once years ago, but luckily I wasn't allowed in because I was wearing an orange dress.

Difficult to comment without looking like chatting but I don't quite understand your story.
You go to Kanchanaburi to visit the tiger temple and then you're glad you're not allowed in because you wore an orange dress??
I can't quite get it and I don't understand your comment because you haven't even been inside.

Tigers don't belong in a zoo, but in the wild where they can hunt for themselves.
If the above is all true, then I have only one word for this:
The same goes for: that's Viagra….with 14 letters.

    DISGUSTING!

The idea is cute to put the animals back in nature, but where is there nature where there are no humans? in short, by putting them back in nature you endanger people who have nothing to do with it. As soon as those tigers are released in a reserve, there will be poachers because China always has something with parts of tigers and other types of animals that they use in remedies. in short, the animals come from the rain into the drip.
No, the big problem is that humans have managed to place themselves outside the food chain, so there are simply too many of them on this world. Now people are doing their utmost to kill each other, but that is not enough to counteract growth.
It is therefore not surprising that animal species are becoming extinct because of the space and raw materials that people think they need. What we can prevent is killing or misusing these animals for our own gain. But as long as man himself does not become extinct, the other animal species will sooner or later disappear.

It is a very good thing that the practices of this temple are put to an end. I've been there once and I already suspected illegal practices. Turns out it's even worse than I thought.

I'm glad that something has been done about it now. I went there 20 years ago with friends
and then it was just the monk himself walked with the tigers to the pit
At the time I thought it was strange that the animals were tame, you could just sit there and take a picture
that cost nothing, a gift was given as desired
the second time i was there in 2010 i was shocked this is not to preserve the tiger but big business
There were Americans walking there who had a say in that, you had to pay for everything, your blouse was not good, you had to buy a different color and if you want to take a photo, it costs 1000 bhat, giving the bottle to the young tigers, 1000 bhat for the preservation of the tigers.
I hope it clears up the word they are a scammer gang
Long live those beautiful animals that belong in the wild

Man is and remains the most dangerous animal on this planet and the thin layer of civilization is only an illusion.
Humans are capable of anything. That Thai monks misbehave and there are excesses, as now with that tiger temple, is a bad thing for (Thai) Buddhism and they should all be thrown out of the order.

Fortunately, this animal suffering is being put to an end thanks to Adward Wiek.
Hopefully the people who manage this temple will also be prosecuted for this crime.
But most importantly, the people just don't visit these attractions anymore, what
is it so much fun to take a picture with a tiger.
Here in Chiangmai/Maerim is Tiger Kingdom, here you can also take a picture with the tiger and I sometimes wonder if the same thing doesn't happen there.
A little further towards Samoeng you can go see monkeys, if you know how these animals are treated
you will never go there again (pure animal abuse).
But as said, the tourist should ignore these things, there is so much other beauty to see.
