Russian tourists dead and injured in bus crash
An accident involving a bus carrying Russian tourists in Thailand killed one of them on Friday. In addition, 32 Russians were wounded.
The bus was on its way from Pattaya in the east to an elephant village in the Sai Yok district in the west of the country. The driver, who does not know the area well, lost control of the wheel, after which the vehicle skidded off the road and ended up upside down on the lower verge.
In addition to the driver and an interpreter, there were 41 Russian tourists on the bus. A woman died. Twelve of the injured, including a boy, are in serious condition.
Russians killed and injured in a bus crash, that's going to bring problems.
Thailand's ambassador in Moscow will be called to account and the Thai government will have to apologize to all victims.
The driver will go to prison for years and in his bag 10 Kg of cocaine is found by a Russian investigation team.
A generous compensation will also have to be paid to these Russian tourists.
As long as this is not met, no more Russians will come to Thailand.
Accidents are the order of the day in Thailand, but how bus and minibus drivers drive is unbelievable.
As Formula 1 pilots they tear across the road and then the number of accidents is not too bad.
The way the Thai participates in traffic is really crazy for words.
realist.
If you read it like that you would think that the driver is not at fault ??? don't know the way? probably didn't drive too fast either, the only thing missing is that he fell asleep. Conversations are going on in CM about driving licenses for farangs and that the tests for these driving licenses are incredibly easy for both farangs and thais this is for the regular driver's license, will the test for a bus driver be that much more difficult? or a child can do the laundry? Just drive the part from the airport to pattaya by car and see how things go with those buses full of tourists, nice if you come here as a tourist and are pushed into a bus like that. Every time these kinds of messages in this blog and the same reactions again Police, government, bus company owners, etc etc but here in Thailand the measure never seems to be full it is in the news for a while and then it blows over again, On to the 30000 road deaths per year, thailand is 6th on the list with the most road deaths in the world i think they are going for a place in the top 3.
That the driver doesn't know the way is nonsense. I have driven thousands of km through the north of Thailand, still do and don't know the way. They haven't gotten me out of the ditch yet. If the driver is at fault due to reckless driving, that also lies in the Thai mentality and its relationship to death. (see other blog about this). The way he thinks and lives, the Thai thinks, someone else can do it too. There are expats who immediately rent a car or, like me, are the first to buy a car. Then you are rid of the nagging and danger with minibuses and VIP bus drivers. If you do drive on the road, take a look at how many are driving on the left lane?. Exactly, almost no body. It's bad enough that it hits another tourist. Very bad because you don't go on vacation to find your death. But if the Russians (as I read above) no longer come to Thailand, would that perhaps be an improvement for Phuket? top rebel
Is anyone (except the Russian victim and surviving relatives) losing sleep over these kinds of accidents? The bus drivers are chasing it as if their lives depend on it.
But not only that, but also the road manager is not interested at all.
If you think you're on a good road, you're sometimes shocked because there's a hole in the road where you can easily go over.
We live only 100 meters from highway 7 and there has also been a considerable pothole in the road there for a few weeks.
During the day you hear squealing truck tires all day because they want to avoid that pit and pull their steering wheel to the right with all the consequences that entails.
At night we almost sit next to the bed because of the fright because the drivers don't see that pit and chase through it with all the rattling and banging.
My wife has called about this many times but every time 0 on the account.
Yesterday we came from Pattaya and went to the police station to complain and point out the dangers. We were listened to carefully and the Motorway Police also immediately came up with a solution:::::There are sufficient red/white cones, so take a number of them with you and close the lane where the hole is in, then you will get rid of the noise. So we took cones with us and then closed 2 lanes. We were able to enjoy the peace and quiet all evening. Unfortunately, someone changed their mind at night and cleared away the cones.
But this is how complaints are handled that can lead to such fatal accidents
By the way, I don't know if it's allowed, so I'll do it separately because I made a video of it.
Here you can see and especially hear how things are going and how dangerous it is, you see a trailer completely with its wheels off the ground
.Perilous situation that just doesn't interest anyone.

This is why motorists do not want to drive in the left lane. Because you see very often that the left lane is very bad. No idea why.
The bus driver missed a hole in the road and lost control?. You might think so. Technically not possible because this is caught by the steering wheel hydraulics. Drivers often take their eyes and minds off the road; are busy with all kinds of other things and, on assignment, drive way too fast. But completely apart from alcohol consumption. Video surveillance is now trying to prevent this. So measures are indeed being taken.
If you drive on the left with 80km you have ample opportunity and time to swerve on the emergency lane. Just keep an eye on your way, for example see a hole coming from afar. That holes are only available in the left lane is a joke. That expats make a video about this is even weirder. This is because they irresponsibly parked their car at a fork in the road, which is also prohibited in Thailand. great martin
If no one cares about road safety, will the same be true for air traffic safety? Better not fly with Thai Airways anymore?
@top martin: do not want to chat, but that no accidents can happen due to technical defects such as this, I have been a professional driver for too long to say that this is indeed possible. From experience I also know that with such holes you have a blowout and that you cannot always keep control of your vehicle.
The fact that the police are busy with video control is completely correct because I was in the watchtower with video images yesterday. It should also be mentioned that my wife and I were the only ones with those video images, otherwise we have not seen or been able to find anyone.
That the drivers are busy with things other than driving is also completely correct because after all:: making coffee, reading books, shaving, calling and a lot of other things have to be done. (Nonsense of course) If we then get pawns from the police to going to place then yes you should not put your car there to place the pawns and immediately make a film to complain even if Farang who just lives there???
Would say top martin let me hear from you then we will sit in a safe place for a few hours and see how dangerous something like this is because you only see it at the last minute and then strange steering movements are made
Chatting is not allowed on Thailandblog, so I can't fulfill your wish dear Henk. I also see it becoming an endless discussion and that is not the purpose of the exercise. One more thing; I drive about 25.- to 30.000 km through Thailand per year without driving through such a pothole on the road. For that reason, further explanation makes no sense to me. Kind regards. great martin
